MILITATRY MEDICINE AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT 39TH WORLD CONGRESS ON MILITARY MEDICINE Welcome Message from Congress DG The Nigerian Ministry of Defence welcomes you to the 39th World Congress of Military Medicine (WCMM) holding under the aegis of the International Committee of Military Medicine. The theme of this edition of the WCMM is Military Medicine and Disaster Management. The aptness of the theme is underscored by the recent unfolding global occurrences of disasters in all of the 5 continents of the world – earthquake in Haita and China, floods in Europe, Pakistan and Australia, landslides and sinkhole in South America, tropical storms in and lately the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters in Japan. Traditionally, the Military is deployed to work in such environments rendering assistance and succor to the civil population. This Congress thus offers an opportunity for over 1000 professionals from the Military and the Academia from about 100 countries to enrich each other and to chart out ways to render better services when called up to duty.
