Ziya Kırmacı1, Arzu Fırat Ersoy1 and B. This feld is characterized by thermal and mineralized springs and Turkey travertine. The temperature of the thermal water is 36 °C, whereas that of the mineral- Full list of author information ized spring in the area is approximately 11 °C. The Na–HCO –Cl-type thermal water has is available at the end of the 3 article a pH value of 6.83 and an EC value of 5731 µS/cm. The aim of this study is to character- ize the geothermal system by using geological, geophysical, and hydrogeochemical data and to determine its hydrochemical properties. A conceptual hydrogeological model is developed for the hydrogeological fow system in the ŞGF. According to the hydrogeological conceptual model created by geological, geophysical, and hydrogeo- chemical studies, the reservoir comprises volcanogenic sandstone and volcanic rocks. The cap rock for the geothermal system is composed of turbiditic deposits consisting of mudstone–siltstone–sandstone alternations. An increase in the geothermal gradient is mainly due to Pleistocene volcanic activity in the feld. The isotopic values of thermal water (δ18O, δ2H, δ3H) indicate a deeply circulating meteoric origin. -

P.Beauv. is a model grass species that is useful for studying temperate cereal, forage, and energy crops. In this study we aimed to determine the genome size and species identity in the collections of the B. distachyon complex that included samples from 56 different locations in Turkey, applying chromosome counting and nuclear genome size evaluation by flow cytometry method (FCM). Moreover, the study examined whether diverse geographical conditions at the collecting sites influence the genome size. Chromosomal analysis revealed that the number of B. distachyon (x = 5, 2n = 10) genotypes was 48 and the number of B. hybridum (x = 5 + 10, 2n = 30) ones was 11. No genotypes of B. stacei were found. FCM analyses revealed that the minimum and maximum genome size of B. distachyon was 0.732 and 0.752 pg2C–1, respectively. The mean genome size of B. distachyon was 0.743 pg2C–1. The mean genome size of B. hybridum was 1.431 pg2C–1 with the minimum 1.417 pg2C–1 and maximum 1.451 pg2C–1. -
XVIII. YÜZYILDA BİTLİS SANCAĞI VE İDARECİLERİ Bitlis Province and Its Governors in 18Th Century
A. Ü. Türkiyat Araştırmaları Enstitüsü Dergisi Sayı 33 Erzurum 2007 -243- XVIII. YÜZYILDA BİTLİS SANCAĞI VE İDARECİLERİ Bitlis Province and Its Governors In 18th Century Dr. Mehmet İNBAŞI* ÖZET Bitlis, Anadolu’da Müslüman Araplar müteakiben de Türkler tarafından erken fethedilen bölgelerden birisidir. Türk-İslam hâkimiyetinin sağlanmasından sonra bölgede, dinî ve sosyal yönden büyük gelişme yaşanmıştır. Osmanlı hâkimiyetine girmesinde İdris-i Bitlisî’nin büyük rolü olmuştur. Doğuda bulunan Safevî Devleti’nin yayılmacı politikasına karşı tahkim edilen şehir, Osmanlı idaresine sadık olup bölgede etkili yerel aşiret ve kabilelerin idaresine verilmiş ve onlara hükümet statüsü altında farklı bir idare sistemi uygulanmıştır. Bu çalışmada, Bitlis sancağının idarî yapısı ile bölgede görev yapmış hanedanlar hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. Anahtar kelimeler; Bitlis, Van Gölü havzası, sancak, hükümet sancaklar, XVIII. yüzyıl. ABSTRACT Bitlis is one of the early conquered places by Muslim Arabs and later Turks in Anatolia. After the Turkish-Islam dominance, significant religious and social developments took place in the city. İdris Bitlisi played an important role in order to put the city under the rule of Ottomans. Fortified against the imperial Safevids who are located in the east, the city always remained faithful to Ottomans and given under the rule of effective tribes and clans in the region by applying a different government system. In this study, information about the ruling system and about the dynasties is given. Gallipoli Campaign
tHe GaLlIpOlI CaMpAiGn The Gallipoli Campaign was an attack on the Gallipoli peninsula during World War I, between 25 April 1915 and 9 January 1916. The Gallipoli peninsula was an important tactical position during World War I. The British War Council suggested that Germany could be defeated by attacks on her allies, Austria, Hungary and Turkey. The Allied forces of the British Empire (including Australia and New Zealand) aimed to force a passage through the Dardanelles Strait and capture the Turkish capital, Constantinople. At dawn on 25 April 1915, Anzac assault troops landed north of Gaba Tepe, at what became known as Anzac Cove, while the British forces landed at Cape Helles on the Gallipoli Peninsula. The campaign was a brave but costly failure. By December 1915 plans were drawn up to evacuate the entire force from Gallipoli. On 19 and 20 December, the evacuation of over 142,000 men from Anzac Cove commenced and was completed three weeks later with minimal casualties. In total, the whole Gallipoli campaign caused 26,111 Australian casualties, including 8,141 deaths. Since 1916 the anniversary of the landings on 25 April has been commemorated as Anzac Day, becoming one of the most important national celebrations in Australia and New Zealand. tHe GaLlIpOlI CaMpAiGn The Gallipoli Campaign was an attack on the Gallipoli peninsula during World War I, between 25 April 1915 and 9 January 1916.
