A Look Back: Stanford Sensational In 2007-08 He would eventually knock down a critical three-pointer in the regular season finale against Washington State, but the Maples Pavilion faithful will instead likely remember Taj Finger for his SportsCenter-worthy, jaw-dropping tomahawk dunk in the second half of Stanford’s 79-69 win over California on Feb. 24, 2008. And while those two examples showcased his offensive talents, Finger’s game was patterned around was non-stop hustle and never-ending energy. Loose ball on the floor? Finger dove for it. Key ? Finger soared high to secure it. In 36 contests- 32 of which he came off the bench- Finger averaged 5.9 points and 4.4 rebounds.

Share The Ball, Force Mistakes, OPPONENTS PLAYER PROFILES COACHING STAFF 2008-09 OUTLOOK Play Defense Three of Stanford’s trademarks were the ability to share the basketball, force opponents into mistakes and play hard-nosed defense. The Cardinal tallied more assists than its opponent 28 times, winning all but two of those games. The tone was set in the season opener, when Stanford dished out 25 assists that led to 43 buckets in a 111-56 pounding of Harvard. It was a different story for opponents, as Stanford forced at least 10 turnovers on 24 occasions. Finally, Stanford allowed just 61.6 points per game and 39.6-percent shooting from the field while holding 18 opponents to 60 points or less. Milestones In The Making One year after establishing the freshman single-season record for blocked shots (73), Robin Lopez climbed the charts again. Against UCLA on Mar. 15, Robin Lopez moved past Curtis Borchardt (1999-2002) into second place on the all-time Stanford list. Lopez totaled 83 blocks this year and has 156 for his career. Meanwhile, Mitch Johnson dished out a team-high 188 assists to increase his career total to 389. That’s good enough for seventh on the all-time list. His 188 assists in a season ranks fourth all-time. Shutting Down The Pac-10’s Best
