Background

Sacred Heart is a co-educational K to Year 10 Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn situated in the town of Cootamundra, NSW. The school has a rich history in the traditions of the Mercy Sisters and De La Salle Brothers. Our school motto 'Faith and Knowledge' challenges us to be a community who serves others, provides academic excellence and to nurture relationships.

With modern teaching and learning facilities, the learning experience for all students includes iPad technology. A newly refurbished Infants Building provides a state of the art learning environment, along with a new Administration and Library Centre completed in 2011.

The Town of Cootamundra

The picturesque district of Cootamundra is located half way between Sydney and Melbourne and possesses an appealing mix of country charm and city style. Just over one hour’s drive from Wagga, it is an ideal base for exploring the entire Riverina region of . The town is approximately 2 hour’s drive from Canberra and is located on the central rail line for the XPT Sydney to Melbourne, with daily buses to Canberra. Cootamundra is a thriving centre for sport, history and the arts and boasts a strong commercial and services sector. The town is surrounded by classic undulating agricultural land and villages rich in heritage.

Cootamundra is a thriving, lively area set within a natural environment. It is a community with a heart based on its country values, its sense of belonging, its spirit and the warmth and friendliness of its people. Cootamundra Shire, consisting of Cootamundra and the villages of and , has a combined population of around 7,500 people who have chosen to live here because of the community spirit, the affordable lifestyle, the natural setting, the different choices of rural, residential, village or town living, the retail, health, education and cultural services, the prosperous economy and easy access to Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, the mountains, and the coast.

Selection Criteria

We are looking for committed professionals with:

 A commitment to Catholic Education and the promotion of the mission of the Catholic Church  Well-developed self-management skills and the personal capabilities of reflection on your own performance, integrity, resilience and emotional maturity  The passion and expertise to work individually and collectively with students, to maximise the learning outcomes for each one, including those with additional learning needs  Demonstrated high-level teaching skills, including working collaboratively with colleagues to create innovative experiences for all learners and a demonstrated capacity to team teach  Excellent interpersonal communication skills including the capacity to develop productive and caring relationships with students, parents and staff where the focus is on the learning and well-being of the student  Demonstrated capacity and willingness to develop student’s unique capabilities through participation in the broader life of the school  Appropriate qualifications and demonstrated experience in the teaching arena.
