HARNESS FITTING

THE WEB-BLOCK HARNESS

STEP 1

 Humane handling of the donkey to facilitate fitting of the halter.

STEP 2

 Fit the head collar/halter

STEP 3

 Attach one side of the belly band onto the first row of hooks.

STEP 4

 Attach one side of the web-block saddle onto the first row of hooks as the belly band above.

STEP 5

 Guide the donkey between the shafts of the and place the back protector ensuring a gullet space of 3-4 fingers wide.

STEP 6

 Place the web-block saddle on top of the back protector and attach it to its corresponding hook as in step 4.

 Re ascertain the 3-4 finger gullet space.

STEP 7

 Attach the belly band to its corresponding hook as in step 3.

STEP 8

 Fit the breast collar by getting it over the donkey’s head and attaching its traces onto the swigle tree.

 Traces attached to the swigle tree.

STEP 9

 Fit the breech strap onto the rump tying its attachments onto the mid row of hooks.

STEP 10

 Ensure a space of atleast four fingers between the breech and the body of the donkey, if not adjust accordingly.

FITTING THE KASUKU HARNESS  Steps 1-2 are as described for the web block harness above.

STEP 3

 Place the Kasuku saddle onto the donkey attaching its ends to the first row of hooks.

STEP 4

 Fit the breast collar on to the shaft next to the saddle attachments having it cross across the breast area of the donkey to be tied similarly on the other shaft.

STEP 5

 Fit and attach the breech strap onto the last row of hooks.

STEP 6

 Ensure a space of atleast 4 fingers between the donkey and breech strap if not adjust accordingly.

FITTING THE PACK SADDLE/PANNIER  Repeat steps 1-2 as for the web-block saddle above.

STEP 3

 Place the pannier onto the back of the restrained donkey.

STEP 4

 Fit the breast collar onto its corresponding hook.

 Fit the girth strap to its corresponding hook similar to step 4 above.

 Fit the breech strap on to its corresponding hook.

 Ensure a space, 4 fingers wide between the donkey and the body of the donkey if not so adjust accordingly.
