Rules: This competition is a Special Competition, as defined in rule 3200 of the Official 2018 US Figure Skating Rulebook. As such, this Announcement will take precedence when there is a conflict with US Figure Skating Competition Rules or Skating Standard Regulations.

2. All combined teams must list all participating schools on the team application form. If combined teams are not from the same school district, the following rules apply: An administrator from each school must email approval or sign the team entry form (see www.shakerfsc.org or the entryeeze competiton homepage for the paper copy of the SAC). All skaters from the combined schools must be allowed to skate on the team. Combined teams not adhering to these guidelines will be disqualified. Established combined teams may not change the high schools that constitute the combined team if they are to be considered “established”.

7. Skaters will be separated into HS Qualifying (grade 9-12) and HS Non-qualifying (grades 5-8) groups for each event except Maneuver Teams and Mini Production and Ensemble. ELIGIBILITY CLARIFICATIONS FOR FEEDER SCHOOLS AND HOME SCHOOLED COMPETITORS

• All 5th through 8th grade students who attend a K-12 private school or a feeder school which leads either directly or indirectly to the high school may compete on behalf of the associated high school no matter how the school or school district classifies the grade levels in the "middle school" or "junior high." For example, 5th grade students of a school district with a 6th through 8th grade middle school may still compete on behalf of the high school even if the student is attending an elementary school in the district.

• 5th through 8th grade students who are attending a private or parochial school that terminates in grade 8 may compete on behalf of the public high school of the school district in which they reside. Proof of residency must be provided via a copy of a utility bill in the custodial parent(s)' name(s).

• Alternatively, 8th grade students of private schools that do not have an associated high school and who have determined which private high school they will attend may apply by letter to the competition co-chair for permission to compete on behalf of the aforementioned high school. This exception applies to 8th grade students only.

• 5th through 12th grade students who are homeschooled may compete on behalf of the public high school located in the school district in which they reside.

MUSIC INTERPRETATION Skaters must enter at their current Free Skate level passed or one level higher.

Categories will include Pre-preliminary, Preliminary, Pre-Juvenile, Juvenile, Intermediate, Novice, and Junior/Senior.

Music Interpretation consists of a single program composed entirely by the skater demonstrating ability to interpret music by combining moves, turns, footwork, jumps and spins.

A Warm-up period consists of 1 minute without music followed by 3 minutes with the selected music played twice. Skaters will then leave the ice and be taken to a locker room where there will be no communications with teammates or parents. Each skater will hear the music one more time with his/her back to the ice at rink side while the prior competitor is performing.

The judges give one mark only, and the emphasis is on interpretation of the music. This event may be judged in combination with guest judges.

Levels may be combined due to lack of entries. The duration of music will be approximately 1:30 minutes for all levels.

Thirty seconds will be allowed before each performance for placement of props. The referee may disallow props that are deemed dangerous to the skater (e.g. sharp objects, feathers, dangling beads, loose paper, and items that may affect the conditions of the ice.) 6. Technical elements will be judged only on their appropriateness to the music. 7. Guest judges may be used for this event. 8. Skaters may not compete below their US Figure Skating freeskate test level but may skate up one level higher.

In the interest of running an event, test levels may be combined if entry numbers are low. Skaters placing fourth and higher in Preliminary and higher artistic/showcase solo events including adult events, may be qualified to enter the next National Showcase. We are offering two additional group events this year at the 2019 OHHS competition. The emphasis of both group events will be on the entertainment value rather than technical content. Elements to be considered in judging will be illustration of character, music interpretation, costuming, and audience appeal. There will be two different group events: Mini Production Ensemble and Production Ensemble.

Overall Requirements • Teams may enter either the Mini Production or Production Ensemble but not both. • A maximum of one group may represent each school. • All levels of skaters may participate in the number • Music with vocals allowed • Props allowed but must be carried on and off ice by skaters taking no more than 1 (one) minute to set up. No flame or smoke, wet mops, whipped or shaving cream, or any substance that may alter the ice in any way. No cap guns or loud noises.

Mini Production Ensemble Requirements • A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 skaters may participate in the group number • Maximum music time 3:10 minutes

Production Ensemble Requirements • A minimum of 8 skaters may participate in the group number • Maximum music time 6:15 minutes

These production ensemble events will NOT be counted toward the final team point scores. They will be considered extra events and will not count as a fifth event for the individual skaters. Each skater will be permitted to enter five (5) other events.

THIS IS CONSIDERED A SEPARATE EVENT AND THE COST IS $50 FOR MINI PRODUCTION AND $75 FOR PRODUCTION ENSEMBLE PER GROUP ENTRY.

A SKATER PARTICIPATING IN ONLY THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT, AND NOT OTHER EVENTS, NEEDS TO REGISTER FOR THE EVENT AND PAY THE $25 REGISTRATION FEE ON ENTRYEEZE.

TEAM ADVISORS MUST ENTER THE NAMES OF ALL SKATERS PARTICIPATING IN THE PRODUCTION ENSEMBLE OR MINI PRODUCTION ENSEMBLE ON ENTRYEEZE.
