Fujifilm’s wide range of FinePix cameras includes a model to appeal to every consumer need. The requirements of this diverse portfolio means that the media used varies according to model.

Here is a guide to those media in use in FinePix cameras and our guide to which cameras use what media.

SmartMedia™

SmartMedia™ and SmartMedia™ compatible cameras remain an important part of the Fujifilm range, and the format will be supported in the future.

The most popular card format of all, SmartMedia™ cards are available in a range of sizes: 16Mb, 32Mb, 64Mb and 128Mb. SmartMedia™ cards are economically priced, readily available and have been a feature of most FinePix cameras for many years.

SmartMedia™ cards can be used in the following current models: l A101 l A202 l FinePix 2600 Zoom l FinePix 2800 Zoom l FinePix 4800 Zoom l FinePix 6800 Zoom l FinePix F401 Zoom l FinePix F601 Zoom l FinePix S602 Zoom* l FinePix S2 Pro* *These cameras feature dual slots that also accept CompactFlash™ type II cards.

CompactFlash™

CompactFlash™ cards are, generally, second only to SmartMedia™ in terms of popularity. You’ll find them in a similar range of capacities to SmartMedia™ along with larger capacities of up to 1Gb.

CompactFlash™ cards appear in the FinePix S602 Zoom and S2 Pro models where the larger capacities are ideally suited to the larger image files and (in the case of the S602 Zoom) the VGA movies produced by the 3rd Generation Super CCD technology used in these cameras.

A variant of the CompactFlash™ known as the IBM can also be used in these cameras. Identical in size to a CompactFlash™ are miniature hard disc drives that are also available in capacities of up to 1Gb.

CompactFlash™ cards can be used in the following current models: l FinePix 602 Zoom l FinePix S2 Zoom xD-Picture Card

The new kid on the block in memory card media, the xD-Picture Card has been developed by Fujifilm and Olympus to meet the storage needs of digital cameras now and in the future. xD-Picture Cards are smallest of memory cards, yet have the capability of storing up to 8Gb of data – on a par with some DVD discs! xD-Picture Cards can also have data written to them – and read from them – faster than other media meaning that they are ideally suited to fast storage of image and movie data. Users will also recognise improved performance as image files can be recalled and replayed much faster. xD-Picture Cards will be available at similar prices to SmartMedia.™

IBM Microdrive

A variant of the CompactFlash™ known as the IBM Microdrive is available in three sizes: 340Mb, 512Mb and 1Gb. Identical in size to a CompactFlash™ card, Microdrives are miniature hard disc drives that are suitable for highly mobile applications such as, , MP3 players, and portable digital assistants. It is a popular choice for users of the FinePix S1 Pro.
