RECOMMENDATIONS:

A. That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square southerly of and between numbered locations 54J and 54j as shown on Sheet 19 of Plan D-13788 for the Hollywood Walk ofFame for the installation of the name of Jon Cryer at 6922 Hollywood Boulevard.

B. Inform the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce of the Council's action on this matter.

C. That this report be adopted prior to the date of the ceremony on September 19, 2011.

FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT:

No General Fund Impact. All cost paid by permittee.

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for insertion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame the name of Jon Cryer. The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, September 19, 2011 at 11:30 a.m.

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Council action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council's action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23".

JON CRYER- (Category-TELEVISION) Requested star location to be 6922 Hollywood Blvd., south side of the street. The star for JON CRYER will be placed in the second row next to the original row closest to the property next to Judge Joseph Wapner to the West. HOLLYWOOD, CA.-A new group of entertainers in motion pictures, television, live theater, and recording have been selected to receive stars on the Hoilyv10od WaU{ of Fame, it was announced today by the Wallz of Fame Committee of the Holly\J\rood Chamber of Commerce. These individuals were chosen from among hundreds of nominations to the committee at a meeting held June 15, and ratified by the Chambet1s Board of Directors.

JON CRYER

Throughout his career Jon Cryer has turned in outstanding, eclectic performances in film, television and on stage. Cryer won an Emmy Award for 'Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series' for his work as 'Alan Harper' in CBS' #1 comedy "." The show has also won The People's Choice Award for Best New Comedy Series in its debut year as well as Favorite TV Comedy from the group. After making his directorial debut on an episode of "Two and a Half Men" during its fourth season, Cryer continues to direct episodes of the show. While on hiatus from "Men," Cryer filmed back-to-bacl< movies; starring with Leslie Mann and William H. Macy in Robert Rodriguez's latest family film, "Shorts," in addition to appearing in the Polish Brothers feature, "Stay CooL" Previously Cryer made a cameo appearance in the independent feature film, "Weather Girl." Cryer initially gained attention on the big screen opposite in "," followed by his iconic performance as an endearing misfit in ' "" His hilarious performance as Jim "Wash Out" Pfaffenbach in "Hot Shots!" was his first teaming with Sheen. Cryer's first foray into television was playing the tide role in CBS's critically acclaimed "The Famous Teddy Z." On stage, Cryer has hit the boards on both sides of the Atlantic. Cryer's talent is not limited to acting~he's a gifted filmmaker as well. He co­ wrote, produced, and starred in two well-received independent films with director Richard Schenlanan. Be Back by Five," on the true story of a childhood friend who was homeless and living in Central Parle The film has garnered awards in film festivals both in the US and abroad. 'A native New Yorker, Cryer is the son of actor David Cryer and writer and actress Gretchen Cryer.
