PEABODY AWARD WINNER 2017 PRIME ORIGINAL SYNOPSIS After Midge’s triumph at the Gaslight, she still has to deal with the fallout from her takedown of Sophie Lennon, making her move up the comedy ladder more challenging and fraught than ever. Midtown may seem like a few blocks north, but it’s a world away for Midge and Susie.

From Paris to the basement of B. Altman, from the Catskills to a nightclub in DC, Midge’s choice to pursue stand-up makes her more aware of the bubble she’s lived in and of the sexism she faces every day.

Midge’s decisions have a ripple effect on all the people in her orbit: Abe and Rose question the life they lead; Joel grows up and becomes the man he always knew he could be; and Susie starts thinking about her future as a manager of talent.

As fall comes around, Midge’s career starts to heat up, the pressure to come clean to her family weighs on her, the actual grind of being a comic begins to take its toll, and a new relationship gets serious. A road trip leads to a televised gig, which leads to Midge finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel as all her hard work is paying off.

MIDGE MAISEL

In 2018, Rachel Brosnahan won an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice Award for her performance as Miriam "Midge" Maisel in the critically acclaimed series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Just three years prior, she earned an Emmy nomination for her performance as Rachel Posner in ’s highly acclaimed series of Cards. Since The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel premiered on ’s streaming service in November 2017, the show has earned an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critics' Choice Award for Best Comedy. Set in the 1950s, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel centers on Miriam "Midge" Maisel, a 25-year- old sharp, sunny, energetic woman, married and living with her husband and two children in . When Midge’s husband leaves her for another woman, her life is turned upside down, and she makes the decision to enter the workforce as well as start building a life as a standup comic with the help of her manager, played by .

On the big screen, Brosnahan begins production this month on Ironbark alongside . Additional film credits includePatriots Day, Burn Country, Boomtown, The Finest Hours, Louder Than Bombs, and Beautiful Creatures.

On stage, Brosnahan starred in Sam Gold’s off-Broadway production of opposite and , playing the role of Desdemona. She made her Broadway debut in 2013 in The Big Knife opposite Bobby Cannavale. On the small screen, in addition to her breakout role in House of Cards, which earned her Emmy and Online Film and Television Award nominations as well as SAG nomination for Best Ensemble, she also starred in two seasons of the critically acclaimed WGN series Manhattan. She also signed on as executive producer of a series adaptation of Corey Camperchioli’s short, Femme. Brosnahan is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute. In addition to serving on the board of Covenant House, which oversees programs for homeless youth, Brosnahan has been an ambassador for Global Citizen for the past six years. ABE WEISSMAN

Tony Shalhoub is a Tony Award-, Golden Globe Award-, and Emmy Award- winning actor with a diverse and extensive resume.

On the Broadway stage, Shalhoub most recently starred in David Cromer’s The Band’s Visit at The Ethel Barrymore Theatre, winning a Tony for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. Prior to that, Shalhoub starred in Terry Kinney’s revival of Arthur Miller’s The Price opposite Mark Ruffalo and Danny DeVito. Shalhoub’s other theatre work includes starring in the Broadway productions of Act One, Golden Boy, and Conversations with My Father, receiving Tony Award nominations for each performance. Shalhoub also appeared opposite Diane Lane in ’s Off-Broadway production of The Mystery of Love & Sex.

Tony Shalhoub is perhaps best known for his work as the obsessive- compulsive detective Adrian Monk in the hit television series Monk, for which he won a Golden Globe Award, three Primetime , and two SAG Awards for his work on the show.

Tony just wrapped the second season of the Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He received an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for season one. Additional television credits include BrainDead, Nurse Jackie, Too Big to Fail, and Wings.

Shalhoub’s film credits include Stanley Tucci’sFinal Portrait with Geoffrey Rush and Armie Hammer, The Assignment, Pain & Gain, Men in Black I and II, Galaxy Quest, The Siege, The Man Who Wasn’t There, Big Night as well as voicing the character of Luigi in the Cars franchise.

SUSIE MYERSON ALEX BORSTEIN

Alex Borstein is a multi-hyphenate talent, known for voicing on the FOX mega-hit , playing the hilarious and unforgettable Ms. Swan on MADtv, and more recently for her role as Dawn Forchette in the critically acclaimed and Emmy-Nominated HBO live-action comedy/ drama, Getting On.

Most recently Alex took the Emmys by storm, winning two awards in one year. Her first win was for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for Family Guy. She was awarded her second Emmy for her turn as Susie Myerson on ’s original series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She will begin shooting the third season of the breakout series this spring.

On the film front, Borstein appeared in Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West as Millie, the madam in the town’s brothel. In the summer of 2012, Borstein also appeared in MacFarlane’s directorial debut Ted, also released by Universal. The film became the highest-grossing original R-rated film of all time, bringing in 545 million dollars worldwide. Previously, Borstein appeared opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Scott Frank’s The Lookout, as well as in The Lizzie McGuire Movie with Hilary Duff. Borstein also starred alongside in the six-time Academy Award-nominated film Good Night, and Good Luck. Her role as Natalie in that film earned her a Screen Actor’s Guild nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The film itself was nominated for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA, and was awarded Movie of the Year by the American Film Institute.

In addition to acting, Borstein has written for several shows including Family Guy, MADtv, and most recently, Emmy-nominated Showtime series Shameless, starring William H. Macy.

Originally from , Borstein graduated from State University. She started performing sketch comedy while in San Francisco and later joined the ACME Comedy Theatre in Los Angeles.

Michael Zegen can currently be seen starring opposite Rachel Brosnahan on the critically acclaimed Amazon Prime Video series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. The series won the 2018 Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series, as well as a 2018 Golden Globe Award for Outstanding Television Series - Musical or Comedy, and a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Comedy Series.

Previously, Zegen earned rave reviews for his recurring role as Benny Siegel on HBO’s , for which he earned a 2015 SAG Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Other recurring television arcs include: The Walking Dead, Girls, How to Make It in America, HAPPYish, and all seven seasons of Rescue Me.

He most recently starred as Mikhail Medvedenko in Michael Mayer’s film adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, opposite Annette Bening, Corey Stoll, and . Additional film credits include Sebastián Silva’s ensemble indie Tyrel, Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha, John Crowley’s Oscar-nominated film , Greg Mottola’s Adventureland, and Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock.

On stage, Zegen starred as Marco in the Broadway production of Ivo van Hove’s Tony-award winning revival of Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge opposite Mark Strong. Zegen’s previous theater credits include originating the role of Ted in The New Group’s production of The Spoils, written by and co-starring for director Scott Elliott and the role of Liam in Joshua Harmon’s smash hit play Bad Jews, directed by Daniel Aukin for Roundabout Theatre .

MOISHE MAISEL

Kevin Pollak started as a stand-up comedian in San Francisco and became a touring pro by age twenty. A few years later he rose to the top of the SF stand-up scene and moved to Los Angeles with dreams of appearing on The Tonight Show Starring , and being in movies…200 auditions later, he landed a few TV and film gigs, which proved enough to get him to the couch of Carson’s The Tonight Show. Pollak instantly became a regular, appearing on the show two or three times a year until Johnny’s retirement.

In 1992, Pollak’s role in ’s A Few Good Men proved his ability to stand out on the big screen among cinematic icons. Pollak’s unplanned transformation to dramatic actor was further established two years later, when he co-starred in and ’s Casino in the same year. In 29 years, he has co-starred in 78 films.

Pollak co-starred on a few television series in 2014 and 2015, appearing opposite and in the first two seasons of Mom, as well as co-starring with in Angel from Hell, and can currently be seen playing Moishe Maisel on Amazon Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Pollak co-starred in five films in 2016. The Tiger Hunter and Borealis kicked off the year, and in the spring, he co-starred with and Eric Bana in the Netflix feature filmSpecial Correspondents, which Gervais wrote and directed. The summer had Pollak appearing alongside Jonah Hill and Miles Teller in Todd Phillips’ film,War Dogs, and in the fall, he starred opposite the legendary Jerry Lewis in Max Rose. Pollak co-starred in two films in 2017:Three Christs, with Richard Gere, Peter Dinklage, , and Walton Goggins for Jon Avnet, and Lez Bomb, with Jenna Laurenzo and Bruce Dern.

Pollak’s first outing as a director, the comedy documentary Misery Loves Comedy, premiered at the 2015 . The film also shot to #1 for documentaries on iTunes in just two days. Later that year, Pollak directed the indie comedy, The Late Bloomer, based on a true story of a man who didn’t experience puberty until age 30. The film stars Johnny Simmons, Brittany Snow, Jane Lynch, J.K. Simmons, Maria Bello, Kumail Nanjiani, and Beck Bennett. The film released in the fall of 2016. It has since been purchased by Netflix and is available for streaming.

Pollak never forgot his first love, and released another one-hour stand- up comedy special, The Littlest Suspect, a couple of years ago. named him one of the Top 100 Comedians of all Time. In 2013, Kevin released his autobiography, How I Slept My Way to the Middle.

Pollak was also a pioneer in the podcast world. His award-winning Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show (described as “Charlie Rose, but fun”) debuted in March of 2009. ROSE WEISSMAN

Marin Hinkle plays Rose Weissman on Amazon Prime Video’s award-winning series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - wife of Abe (Tony Shalhoub) and mother of Midge (Rachel Brosnahan).

Hinkle’s most recent television credits include recurring roles on ABC’s hit comedy Speechless and Showtime’s Homeland. Throughout the thirteen- year run of CBS’s award-winning series , she played Judith, Alan’s () wife and Jake’s (Angus T. Jones) mother. Prior to this, she portrayed Judy (Sela Ward's sister) on ABC’s beloved series , created by and Ed Zwick.

Hinkle has had recurring roles on Madam Secretary, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, The Sarah Silverman Program, Deception, and Brothers & Sisters. Additionally she has been a guest star on House, ER, Private Practice, and numerous episodes of the Law and Order franchise.

Hinkle’s feature film credits includeJumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, directed by Jake Kasdan. She has appeared in with Money, Turn the River, I Am Sam, Frequency, Rails & Ties, What Just Happened, Quarantine, and Imagine That, among others.

Her extensive theatre credits include the Broadway shows Electra, A Thousand Clowns, and The Tempest, as well as dozens of Off-Broadway plays such as Dinner with Friends, Luce, Rx, Graceland, Miss Julie, The Dybbuk, Blue Window, Sabina, and Wonderful Time. She has acted on stages across the country, with leading roles in theaters such as Lincoln Center, The Public Theatre, The Roundabout, The New Group, Primary Stages, Theatre for a New Audience, The Geffen Playhouse, South Coast Repertory, Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Shakespeare Theatre, Baltimore’s Center Stage, Yale Rep, The Long Wharf, and Pittsburgh Public Theater, among others.

Amy Sherman-Palladino began her career in the entertainment business as a staff writer on during the show’s third season, evolving into story editor and supervising producing posts. During her four seasons on Roseanne, Sherman-Palladino was nominated for Emmy and Writers Guild Awards and was honored with a Peabody.

In 2000, Sherman-Palladino created the beloved television series , which ran for seven seasons and went on to become the WB’s most popular series. As creator, writer, and executive producer, she brought to life the engaging story of a single mother () running a bed-and-breakfast in a small Connecticut town while raising her teen daughter (). The show, with its strong relationships and dense, fast-paced dialogue, earned widespread critical acclaim, with TIME magazine listing Gilmore Girls among its “100 Best TV Shows of All Time.”

Among later projects for Amy Sherman-Palladino was the FOX comedy The Return of Jezebel James, starring Parker Posey, and the ABC Family dance drama Bunheads, starring Sutton Foster.

2016 brought the highly anticipated return of Gilmore Girls to Netflix as a four-part miniseries. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life reunited much of the original cast, tracing the characters’ lives across each season: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Sherman-Palladino served as executive producer, writer, and director alongside her husband and longtime collaborator, writer/producer/director .

Currently, Sherman-Palladino is serving as executive producer, director, and writer of the Amazon series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The series won eight Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, and Sherman- Palladino made Emmys history with wins for both Comedy Writing and Comedy Directing. In its first season,The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel also earned two Golden Globes, two Critics' Choice Awards, and a Peabody Award. The sereis has been greenlit for a third season. Emmy Award-nominee Daniel Palladino broke into series television in 1989, spending three years on the ABC hit Who’s the Boss? starring , , and . Along with stints as a producer of the David Keith series Flesh ’n’ Blood and as a writer for an episode of the legendary , Palladino wrote a half-dozen episodes of The Upper Hand, the British version of Who’s the Boss?, helping to establish a show which would go on to run seven seasons.

Palladino spent two years in the mid-1990s on Roseanne, serving as a writer, co-executive producer, then executive producer, subsequently shepherding the Tim Curry/ Potts project Over the Top. In 2000 he began a half-dozen years on Gilmore Girls, which became one of the most popular shows on the WB. He wrote some of the show’s most popular episodes and eventually segued into directing, guiding the ship on six episodes. Palladino was involved in casting a show that has gone on to establish the careers of , Melissa McCarthy, Matt Czuchry, and a host of others. He went on to serve in producing roles on such original series as The Return of Jezebel James and the dance drama Bunheads.

Just prior to and for a time concurrent with Gilmore Girls, Palladino was executive producer and showrunner of the FOX animated hit Family Guy for its initial two seasons, earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Animated Program for its debut season. More recently, from 2012-2013, he returned to Family Guy as a consulting producer.

In 2016, Palladino helped navigate the return of Gilmore Girls to Netflix, writing and directing two of the four installments for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Palladino served as executive producer, writer, and director alongside his wife, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.

Palladino then served as executive producer on the Amazon , The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which was subsequently picked up for an unprecedented two years based on the audience’s enthusiastic response. He is currently executive producer, writer, and sometime director of the series’ second season. SEASON 2 EPISODE 1: SIMONE In the Season Two premiere, Midge takes the stage for a foreign audience, while Abe and Rose find themselves in a new world. Susie experiences the repercussions of having a bad reputation in the business, as Joel regroups after quitting his job.

EPISODE 2: MID-WAY TO MIDTOWN Midge and Susie continue building Midge’s standup career despite Midge’s reluctance to tell her family and friends. Abe and Rose enjoy a new lifestyle. Joel offers some business advice to his parents and makes an effort to do right by Midge.

EPISODE 3: THE PUNISHMENT ROOM Midge puts her impeccable planning to the test as she helps Mary with her special day. Joel attempts to keep finances steady at Maisel & Roth and ends up on a treasure hunt. Midge’s act flourishes, but Susie’s finances take a hit. Back at Columbia, Rose finds herself out of her comfort zone when auditing classes.

EPISODE 4: WE’RE GOING TO THE CATSKILLS! The Weissmans arrive in the Catskills for their annual summer trip and attempt to settle into familiar patterns. Whispers of Midge and Joel’s separation cause Rose to poke around her daughter’s love life. Susie must adjust her summer plans in an effort to keep her and Midge’s career momentum going.

EPISODE 5: MIDNIGHT AT THE CONCORD Summer season at Steiner Mountain Resort continues as Moishe and Shirley join the group, disturbing Abe’s peace. Susie tries to ward off a new friend while keeping a low profile at the resort. Midge jumps at the opportunity to redeem herself at B. Altman.
