From the Pastor:

How appropriate that today, the Feast of the Good Shepherd, is also the World Day of Prayer for Vocations.

It was the “original” Good Shepherd who called his disciples to feed his lambs, feed his sheep. We all have a

vocation, a special calling from God. This day of prayer is asking that we, both as people and as individuals, are

especially open to the call to religious life. Our Church needs more men and women who will respond to the

invitation to serve the people of God as Sisters, Priests, Brothers, Deacons, and Lay Ministers. Here at St.

Peter Chanel, we have a strong tradition of prayer in support of religious vocations. I am asking that you take

a few extra moments today, on the Feast of the Good Shepherd, to lift your voice and heart up to God asking

that our Church be blessed with many more dedicated leaders for the future.

World Day of Prayer for Vocations Father, you call each one of us by name and ask us to follow you. Bless your Church by raising up dedicated and generous leaders from our families and friends who will serve your people as Sisters, Priests, Brothers, Deacons, and Lay Ministers. Inspire us as we grow to know you, and open our hearts to hear your call. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
