In his immense desire to share this insight with others and in filial dependence on Mary he formed her Legion to be a sign of her maternal love for the world and a means of enlisting all her children in the Church's evangelizing work. We thank you Father for the graces conferred on him and for the benefits accruing to the Church from his courageous and shining faith. With confidence we beg You that through his intercession you grant the petition we lay before You................. In addition, 7 marriages came from their Patrician groups and the 7 on Christ, we are one with Christ. In each of us the Father sees and hears Christ, his well pairs are now legionaries. The Comitium Inmaculado Corazón de Maria de Puerto beloved Son in whom he is well pleased… it is a question of replacing ourselves, and of Plata reported on hospital and prison visitation, 250 children baptised, 200 getting rid of ourselves, and of substituting for ourselves the person and the prayer of confirmed, 502 received First Holy Communion, and 12 adult Baptisms. 44 Christ.’ In other words the praying of the Office is a way of abiding in the praying Christ couples were prepared for marriage. A Protestant lady and her son were prepared and making his prayer our own. for Baptism. The Comitium Reyna de las Virgenes prepared 9 couples for marriage, which was jointly celebrated; the couples are now joining the Legion. One of the most important things for us to remember about praying the Divine Office is that it is essentially the worship of God. It is about Adoration of God. Saint Haiti Senatus:Many reporting praesidia and councils are long established Pope John Paul 11 put it very memorably when he said: ‘A moment of true adoration has with two Curiae having been set up in the 1950’s. There is much emphasis on greater value and spiritual fruit than the most intense activity, even apostolic activity extension/recruiting and 2 Senatus members recently carried out a 3 day training itself.’ It should be helpful to remember that the praying of the Office is a sublime session in an attached Comitium.

  • Venerable Edel Quinn
Venerable Edel Quinn Edel Quinn was born in Kanturk, Co. Cork, Ireland on September 14th, 1907. As a girl, her desire was to enter a Contemplative Convent, but she was prevented from doing so by ill health. At the age of 20, Edel Quinn joined the Legion of Mary in Dublin and gave herself entirely to its apostolate. In 1932, she became seriously ill and spent a long period in hospital. Edel later resumed her Legion work, though with her health permanently impaired. Edel Quinn was appointed Legion of Mary Envoy with the commission to establish the organization in the vast territories of East and Central Africa. She encountered great obstacles in this pioneering work. As against every difficulty and her wretched health, Edel Quinn brought to her task an absolute faith in God's love and a limitless trust in the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin. Edel Quinn was gifted with a clear practical mind, notable organizing ability, an indomitable will, a deep fund of warm, human sympathy and an infectious joyousness of spirit that never failed her. Everyone who knew her, including her parents, her three sisters and a brother, describe Edel as having been totally unselfish, giving herself to others without consideration of herself. Edel had a concern for everyone and shared in their sufferings, but never revealed her own. She was truly patient in her suffering, which was considerable, but she never gave evidence of pain or worriment. She was always cheerful, even when she was in intense pain or extreme discomfort. She was known for her joy and for her love of jokes as much as she was for her holiness.

  • Ordination to the Diaconate
Ordination to the Diaconate ARCHDIOCESE OF GALVESTON-HOUSTON His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo Archbishop of Galveston-Houston Ordaining Bishop Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Houston, Texas February 20, 2021 Deacons are ordained by the laying on of hands, a tradition handed down from the apostles, so that through sacramental grace they may effectively fulfill their ministry. Therefore, even from early Apostolic times, the Catholic Church has held the holy Order of the Diaconate in high honor. "Insofar as competent authority assigns them, it pertains to the deacon: to administer Baptism solemnly; to protect and distribute the Eucharist, assist at and bless marriages in the name of the Church, bring Viaticum to the dying; read the Sacred Scriptures to the faithful, instruct and exhort the people; preside over the prayer and worship of the faithful, administer sacramentals, and officiate at funeral and burial rites. Dedicated to duties of charity and administration, deacons should be mindful of the admonition of Saint Polycarp: 'Be merciful and zealous, walking according to the truth of the Lord, who made himself the minister of all.'"1 Rite of Ordination, nos. 173-174 1 Second Vatican Council, Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, Lumen Gentium, no 29. Duff, having concern for people he saw as materially and spiritually deprived, got the idea to picket Protestant soup kitchens as they were giving aid in the form of food and free accommodation at hostels for not attending Catholic services. We use cookies to ensure that we give you the best experience on our website. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Dr Kennedy's research highlights how the Dublin clergy, indifferent to spirituality, feared an organisation which dared to promote mixed membership of men and women. I have no fear of plurality in school patronage where parents desire it. At the same time he felt that trust in lay people should also be accompanied by intense formation of lay people in spirituality and in theology. That said, I believe that the Catholic school retains its particular place which must be fostered. For information on how we process your data, read our Privacy Policy. • The Mystical Body of Christ in the Spirituality of the Legion of Mary March 2011 by Fr
The Mystical Body of Christ in the Spirituality of the Legion of Mary March 2011 By Fr. Bede McGregor O.P. Spiritual Director to the Legion of Mary The prayer for the beatification of the Servant of God Frank Duff begins as follows: 'God Our Father, You inspired your servant Frank Duff with a profound insight into the mystery of your Church, the Body of Christ and of the place of Mary the Mother of Jesus in this mystery.' There can be no doubt about the truth of the assessment of Frank Duff in this prayer. He loved the Church with his whole being and lived his life in and for her. His vision of the Church was pivotal for him and the Legion of Mary which he founded. For him the Church is a Person. It is the Risen Lord living and acting in his Body the Church. It is in and through and with the Church that he and we legionaries find Jesus. This is truly one of the deepest insights of his life and it is the central truth in the doctrinal and practical life of the Legion. Inseparably connected to this insight is his total conviction concerning the place of Mary in this mystery of the Body of Christ. There are many different images of the Church in both the old and new testaments, in the time of prophecy and in the time of fulfilment. But the image that meant most to Frank Duff and the Legion is the image of the Body of Christ. I have not found in any of his writings or spoken words concepts like the institutional church or the charismatic church so popular in much post- Conciliar discussion.

  • Dominican Confraternities
DOMINICAN CONFRATERNITIES One of the brightest pages of Dominican history is that which records the assignment of the first sixteen Friar Preachers by St. Dominic to different parts of the then civilized world. It is to that date that we can go back and find the beginning of many phases of present Dominican life. It is to that date that we may trace the beginning of activities among the faithful by Do- minicans. These sixteen Brothers went forth to preach; to teach the people the way to salvation. They told the faithful about Jesus; that He was the Treasure of the faithful, the Lord of all. They pointed out the value of His friendship; the best means of attain- ing it and keeping it. The means suggested by them are even today in use—devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and all honor to Mary Immaculate. As years went by, the sons of Saint Dominic formed societies for the greater spread of devotion to Jesus and His Mother. The purpose of such societies was to unite those who, working to- gether, could be of mutual aid in attaining eternal salvation. In all, the Dominicans have instituted and propagated five such con- fraternities: The Confraternities of the Blessed Sacrament and of the Holy Name; the Rosary Confraternity; the Confraternity of the Angelic Warfare and the Confraternity of First Communi- cants and Perseverance, or Blessed Imelda Confraternity. The aim of all is the same—the salvation of souls. The means used by each is different. Let the following explain the five Dominican Confraternities; their origin, propagation and fulfillment of their missions.

  • From the Pastor's Desk
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK THE LEGION OF MARY-THE BLESSED MOTHER’S ARMY… There is an old story told about a priest who was greeting his parishioners after mass one sunny Easter morning. He saw a couple that was very friendly but whom he had not seen in church for months, in fact since Christmas! So the priest said, “Listen- I’m happy to see both of you but you need to join the army of the Lord!” The wife said, “Oh Father, we are in God’s army already!” “Then how come I only see you at Christmas and Easter?” The pastor inquired. The husband chimed in, “Father, we are in the Secret Service!” Perhaps many people are in that service since Mass attendance is way down in the Catholic Church. Perhaps some people would not like to think of the Church as an army and it’s members as “Soldiers of Jesus Christ,” but its true to say that as Catholics we are engaged in a battle to save our souls from our enemy the devil. A couple of years ago, I received a book with an interesting title, the title? Onward Catholic Soldier. It’s all about spiritual warfare and how prayer, fasting and right conduct is our armor as followers of Jesus Christ. It’s something interesting to think about. Since Vatican Two, the Church has emphasized that every one of us-not just the priests and nuns have a vocation and that vocation is to holiness of life. Holiness involves not only saying prayers as important as they are.
