15 WHEREAS, since 1978, KSKA Radio the Alaska Public Radio Network (APRN) have enriched and inspired 16 listeners by providing a steady and constant source of in-depth and balanced news coverage, thought-provoking 17 information, global cultural and informational links, and diverse programming from a wide range of sources; and 18

19 WHEREAS, KSKA provides a quality radio service that informs, educates, and entertains 60 percent of the 20 State's population through news and information programs, public relations partnerships with nonprofit organizations 21 for public service announcements, and community involvement in broadcasting, with volunteers producing a wide 22! variety of music, arts, and public affairs programming throughout the years; and 23

24 WHEREAS, APRN has a talented and professional Statewide network of reporters and producers dedicated 25 to providing balanced coverage of news and events for 90 percent of Alaska's residents through member stations, 26 building bridges of communication between urban and rural Alaska, and promoting Alaska's cultures, regions, and 27 ethnic diversity, with a commitment to inform and empower Alaska's Native peoples; and 28

29 WHEREAS,KSKA and APRN are consistently recognized for excellence by the Alaska Press Club, the 30 Alaska Broadcasters Association, both National and Alaska Chapters of the Women's Press Club, and the Society 31, for Professional Journalists and KSKA was voted Favorite Radio Station in the Anchorage Area in a recent poll of 32 the Anchorage Daily News readers and was cited for Excellence by the Alaska Mental Health Association; and 33

34 WHEREAS, both have dedicatedgroups of Boards of Directors and Community Advisory Board Members 35 that are committed to sustaining a vision for public radio and the staff, boards, members, underwriters, volunteers, 36 and nonprofit friends of KSKA and APRN have kept public broadcasting going strong in Alaska since 1978 and look 37 forward to continuing their community service to the listening audience for another 25 years. 38

39 NOW, THEREFORE, the Anchorage Municipal Assembly resolves that 40
