BACKGROUND 1.1 Madrid Madrid is a city with a history that is exceedingly rich in culture. It is culturally linked to Latin American countries, as well as an important member of the European Union. The Spanish capital is a beautiful and vibrant city that exudes social life. Madrid is the marketplace of Spain, because all of the very best products from the rest of the country frequently arrive to shops and markets all over the city almost instantaneously. The capital is replete with bars, cafes, and restaurants where its denizens and visitors alike can enjoy delicious, highly diverse Mediterranean cuisine. ELITE TENNIS UNIVERSITY PROGRAM A joint program that brings higher education and High-Performance Tennis Training together. 2.1 Degree Program Participating students study for a Bachelor’s or an Associate’s Degree (official undergraduate degrees in the US) in either Business, Communication Studies, or Liberal Studies. Upon completion of their first two years in Madrid, students can: o Finish their studies at Endicott College (USA), or at any other American university or college in the world to obtain their four-year Bachelor’s Degree. o Complete the entire four-year program at CIS Endicott Madrid obtaining one of the following degrees: ▪ Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management ▪ Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing Communication 2.2 High-Performance Tennis Program Students will receive high-performance tennis training managed by official, professional coaches from the RFET (Royal Spanish Tennis Federation), the FTM (Madrid Tennis Federation), and the USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association). The athletic program features: o Daily High-Performance Training Sessions. o Participation in official, local and national matches and tournaments. o Management of sports portfolio to facilitate future athletic scholarship applications for American colleges and universities. 7 3. OBJECTIVES Fulfilling the following objectives allow the Elite Tennis University Program to complete its mission: • To offer the best possible high-performance athletic experience with tennis as a focus – modeled after the Spanish method. • To provide training on a sufficiently high level as to ultimately raise each individual player’s standards, and therefore adequately highlight their talent. • To give students the ability to complete their university studies in Madrid at an American university. • To provide student athletes with a clear path to improving their game, which in turn gives them the option of pursuing an athletic scholarship in order to continue their studies in the US. • To help build the foundation and structure upon which student athletes can fully develop their tennis skills while creating a standout athletic portfolio. 8 4. WHAT’S INCLUDED? The Elite Tennis University Program includes: A. ACADEMIC PROGRAM: • Associate’s Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree in the following areas: Business, Communication, or Liberal Studies. B. ATHLETIC PROGRAM: • High-performance training in tennis, by top-level trainers (Physiotherapists, medical professionals, nutritionists, personal trainers, sports psychologists, etc.) • Player registration with the Madrid Tennis Federation. • Competition scheduling and calendar provided. • Constant evaluation and monitoring. • Access to tryouts with Spanish tennis clubs. • Creation of a sports portfolio (including recommendation letters, highlight videos, team participation certificates, etc.) • Health insurance 9 5. UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM 5.1 Description The academic program at CIS Endicott Madrid offers students the possibility of studying in three core areas: • Business – Business Administration • Communication – Communication Studies • Liberal Studies - Liberal Arts Students can choose between two options: OPTION 1: 2+2 PROGRAM: Upon completion of the first two years at CIS-Endicott Madrid, students can finish their Bachelor’s Degree by choosing one of the following options: • Continue studying at Endicott College in Beverly, MA • Continue studying at any American college or university in the world OPTION 2: FOUR-YEAR PROGRAM: Upon completion of the four-year program, students will obtain one of the following US accredited American Bachelor’s degrees awarded by Endicott College: • Bachelor of Science in Business Management. • Bachelor of Science in Marketing Communication. 10 5.2 Bachelor of Science in Business Management Our Business Management program is designed to help students develop the personal leadership necessary for success. The curriculum prepares students for management positions from supervisor to general manager, and teaches students to manage a business effectively in an increasingly complex and competitive environment. Learning outcomes • Demonstrate the problem-solving skills needed to meet the challenges of business management. • Apply a set of business management "best practices" in a professional environment. • Recognize the importance of ethical behavior in the professional environment. • Demonstrate the research and critical analysis skills needed to constructively contribute to the intellectual discourse present in business management. • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Students can participate in the four-year program in Madrid earning a Bachelor degree of Science in Business Management issued by Endicott College, or continue their studies at Endicott College (Massachusetts, USA) or at any other American college or university. 11 5.3 Bachelor of Science in Marketing Communication Students explore the many ways media impacts the individual and society, locally and internationally. Students are provided with a solid academic background that promotes written and critical thinking skills, as well as theoretical and applied knowledge. Learning Outcomes • Acquire and develop a basic knowledge of theories and concepts in the field of Communication. • Demonstrate an understanding of the core ethical values inherent in best practices in the field of media (Digital and traditional media). • Demonstrate an understanding of the research methods used in the different fields of Communication. • Effectively comprehend
