1.1 Madrid

Madrid is a city with a history that is exceedingly rich in culture. It is culturally linked to Latin American countries, as well as an important member of the European Union.

The Spanish capital is a beautiful and vibrant city that exudes social life. 6 2. ELITE TENNIS UNIVERSITY PROGRAM

A joint program that brings higher education and High-Performance Tennis Training together.

2.1 Degree Program

Participating students study for a Bachelor’s or an Associate’s Degree ( undergraduate degrees in the US) in either Business, Communication Studies, or Liberal Studies.

Upon completion of their first two years in Madrid, students can:

o Finish their studies at Endicott College (USA), or at any other American university or college in the world to obtain their four-year Bachelor’s Degree.

o Complete the entire four-year program at CIS Endicott Madrid obtaining one of the following degrees: ▪ Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management ▪ Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing Communication

2.2 High-Performance Tennis Program

Students will receive high-performance tennis training managed by official, professional coaches from the RFET (Royal Spanish Tennis Federation), the FTM (Madrid Tennis Federation), and the USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association).

The athletic program features:

o Daily High-Performance Training Sessions.

o Participation in official, local and national matches and tournaments.

o Management of sports portfolio to facilitate future athletic scholarship applications for American colleges and universities.

7 3. OBJECTIVES

Fulfilling the following objectives allow the Elite Tennis University Program to complete its mission:

• To offer the best possible high-performance athletic experience with tennis as a focus – modeled after the Spanish method.

• To provide training on a sufficiently high level as to ultimately raise each individual player’s standards, and therefore adequately highlight their talent.

• To give students the ability to complete their university studies in Madrid at an American university.

• To provide student athletes with a clear path to improving their game, which in turn gives them the option of pursuing an athletic scholarship in order to continue their studies in the US.

• To help build the foundation and structure upon which student athletes can fully develop their tennis skills while creating a standout athletic portfolio.

8 4. WHAT’S INCLUDED?

The Elite Tennis University Program includes:

A. ACADEMIC PROGRAM:

• Associate’s Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree in the following areas: Business, Communication, or Liberal Studies.

B. ATHLETIC PROGRAM:

• High-performance training in tennis, by top-level trainers (Physiotherapists, medical professionals, nutritionists, personal trainers, sports psychologists, etc.)

• Player registration with the Madrid Tennis Federation.

• Competition scheduling and calendar provided.

• Constant evaluation and monitoring.

• Access to tryouts with Spanish tennis clubs.

• Creation of a sports portfolio (including recommendation letters, highlight videos, team participation certificates, etc.)

• Health insurance

9 5. UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

5.1 Description

The academic program at CIS Endicott Madrid offers students the possibility of studying in three core areas:

• Business – Business Administration • Communication – Communication Studies • Liberal Studies - Liberal Arts

Students can choose between two options:

OPTION 1: 2+2 PROGRAM:

Upon completion of the first two years at CIS-Endicott Madrid, students can finish their Bachelor’s Degree by choosing one of the following options:

• Continue studying at Endicott College in Beverly, MA • Continue studying at any American college or university in the world

OPTION 2: FOUR-YEAR PROGRAM:

Upon completion of the four-year program, students will obtain one of the following US accredited American Bachelor’s degrees awarded by Endicott College:

• Bachelor of Science in Business Management. • Bachelor of Science in Marketing Communication.

10 5.2 Bachelor of Science in Business Management

Our Business Management program is designed to help students develop the personal leadership necessary for success. The curriculum prepares students for management positions from supervisor to general manager, and teaches students to manage a business effectively in an increasingly complex and competitive environment.

Learning outcomes

• Demonstrate the problem-solving skills needed to meet the challenges of business management.

• Apply a set of business management "best practices" in a professional environment.

• Recognize the importance of ethical behavior in the professional environment.

• Demonstrate the research and critical analysis skills needed to constructively contribute to the intellectual discourse present in business management.

• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Students can participate in the four-year program in Madrid earning a Bachelor degree of Science in Business Management issued by Endicott College, or continue their studies at Endicott College (Massachusetts, USA) or at any other American college or university.

11 5.3 Bachelor of Science in Marketing Communication

Students explore the many ways media impacts the individual and society, locally and internationally. Students are provided with a solid academic background that promotes written and critical thinking skills, as well as theoretical and applied knowledge.

Learning Outcomes

• Acquire and develop a basic knowledge of theories and concepts in the field of Communication.

• Demonstrate an understanding of the core ethical values inherent in best practices in the field of media (Digital and traditional media).

• Demonstrate an understanding of the research methods used in the different fields of Communication.

• Effectively comprehend and participate in the complex role that media plays in society and culture.

• Communicate effectively in writing within the parameters of Communication Studies.

• Demonstrate the research and critical analysis skills needed to participate constructively in the intellectual discourse of the Communication as a discipline.

Students can participate in the four-year program in Madrid earning a Bachelor degree of Science in Marketing Communication issued by Endicott College, or continue their studies at Endicott College (Massachusetts, USA) or at any other American college or university.

12 6. ATHLETIC PROGRAM

6.1 Description

The primary objective of the ELITE TENNIS UNIVERSITY PROGRAM is to improve the individual and team performance of players via our methodology, which is based on a traditionally Spanish playing style that focuses on technique, strategy, as well as physical and mental toughness — designed to help players achieve the best possible results during competitions. An athlete’s success becomes more likely with the development of a familiarity with patterns of play – a valuable tool which ensures a positive outcome on the court.

Student athletes can continue their professional development after finishing with this program anywhere in the world through competition in the following leagues: College I, II, III, NAIA, NJCAA, and California CC (Men & Women), and also have access to apply for an athletic scholarship at the best-known American universities and colleges, which are actively searching for capable individuals to join their tennis teams. Students are, therefore, able to continue studying while progressing as players.

13 The program includes: o 3 hours of high performance daily training, 5 days per week, with physical training included. o 1 monthly physiotherapy session to help avoid injuries and enhance physical strength. o 1 hour per month with an expert nutritionist, as well as nutritional programs designed for each athlete. o 1 hour per month with professional coaches to focus on the mental aspect of competition to fully develop each player. o Sports bag with equipment (for training and competition). o Official, professional coaches from the RFET (Royal Spanish Tennis Federation), the FTM (Madrid Tennis Federation), and the USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association). o Spanish training methodology. o Individualized performance monitoring for all players. o Management and full integration with an official competitive tennis team from the “Competición del Club Internacional de Tenis (CIT)” (International Tennis Competition Club). o Participation in matches and tournaments. o Practice matches and exhibitions games. o Creation of player reports and videos for each student athlete.

14 6.2 General Objectives

The overall development of every player is the fundamental objective of the ELITE TENNIS UNIVERSITY PROGRAM.

This program is designed to help participants achieve overall performance improvements via daily training sessions that are led by professional coaches — which in turn helps players advance their careers for the duration of their time in Spain while competing in varying matches and tournaments.

o Always play with a winning spirit in all competitions. o Develop a competitive mindset in order to become a more well-rounded player. o Learn to be competitive. o Establish playing patterns. o Reenforce the intensity during practice and games to bring the best out of each player. o Improve concentration, create routines, and achieve better results. o Anticipate the opponent’s next move. o Learn to compete in such a way as to guarantee the very best possible results. 6.3 Training Methodology

The training method employed in this program requires participants to focus on every single element that can influence competitive play, which is why activities have been developed to closely simulate matches and tournaments in order to effectively prepare student athletes to be on top of their game.

Based on the Spanish model of training and competition. o Master different techniques including: , serving, control, position and movement, etc. o The overall improvement of balance and rhythm among all participants is a major focus. The full integration of coordination skills plays a fundamental role in the methodology of this program.

15 6.3 Training Methodology (cont.)

o Training sessions for high-performance sports are built around maximum intensity athletic activity to push players to be at the very top of their game, while avoiding injury as much as possible. Training intensity is simply at the highest possible level.

o Practice allows for the automatization of playing patterns that allow athletes to play with greater confidence.

o Work to improve mentally to keep players positive and with a winning mindset throughout all competitions. Working closely with the coaching staff will permit exhaustive observation of the mental state of each athlete, as well as routines, general attitude, and behavior.

o Competition is of an absolutely fundamental importance within the framework of this program, and furthermore helps to apply what is learned in a practical situation. Competitions will be held in multiple different locations during the course of the program.

o Promote a winning outlook among players — one that is based on psychological techniques focused on achieving the best results, while dedicating extra special attention to anticipating the opponent’s next move.

16 6.4 Fitness Tracking

An extensive physical examinaron specifically designed for high-performance athletics will be done prior to the start of the program, and will include/provide:

o Analysis of complete medical/sports history. o General Examination: cardiovascular, respiratory, motor skills, etc. o Resting electrocardiogram. o Annual monitoring of body measurements and composition such as: weight, height, flexibility, body fat percentage, etc. o Stress test on treadmill: VO2 max determination, VT1 and VT2 thresholds, electrocardiographic control, recovery assessment, heart rate during exercise, etc. o Medical Report with full results. o Certification of fitness for participation in the program should all requirements

be met or exceeded.

PHYSICAL EVALUATION

17 6.5 Sports Staff

The first-rate support staff of the ELITE TENNIS UNIVERSITY PROGRAM will ensure that each student athlete has what he or she needs at all times.

18 6.6 Evaluation and Analysis

The player will be guided and coached during the entirety of the program, and will participate in periodic meetings with his or her assigned coach in order to analyze individual aspects of their performances in matches and tournaments. Players will also be evaluated and observed on a continuous basis by every single member of the program staff, in addition to having access to relevant information via digital platforms.

The trainer or coach will visually evaluate the player in person, or by reviewing videos in order to offer a personalized analysis of multiple aspects of his or her play including: technique, strategy, in addition to ways in which each player can improve their game physically and mentally.

Such exhaustive analysis and evaluation will enable trainers to effectively monitor the development and progress of student athletes, while simultaneously being used as a tool to collect and store information regarding matches and tournaments in which each player participates, thereby providing comparative data that can be used to further evaluate progress.

19 6.7 Competition

The ELITE TENNIS UNIVERSITY PROGRAM entails rigorous competition for its players. Students participate in competitions with teams within their league, other local teams, regional competitions, as well as national and international play should they meet the requirements and achieve the necessary rankings required by each tournament for participation.

Several organizations regulate tennis competition in Spain, the FTM and FTE schedules are closely followed by the organizers of this program to ensure the participation of qualified student athletes.

Students are additionally invited to attend the Master de Tenis de Madrid at the Caja Mágica, the Copa Davis 2020 in Madrid, visits to high-performance tennis academies, as well as training sessions with other teams.

We have two sports facilities available for individual training, which are both easily accessible via public transportation (approximately 20 minutes away from the CIS Endicott International facilities).

24 8.2 CIS Endicott International – Madrid Campus

CIS Endicott International facilities are in the center of Madrid, in the “” neighborhood. It is an exceptionally nice, accessible part of the city, and in close proximity to all of the most socially and culturally relevant parts of the capital.

The campus is within 20 - 30 minutes of the sports facilities. Many student housing options are also available near the CIS Endicott International Madrid Campus.
