Holiday’s 54 points, 16 assists and slew of defensive suc- cesses in the fi rst two games are big reasons why the sixth-seeded Pelicans hold a surprising 2-0 series lead over the third-seeded Trail Blazers as they prepare for Game 3 Thursday night in New Orleans. “Playoff Jrue, I guess,” Davis quipped after Holiday scored 33 — including a late, deep 3-pointer — in the Pelicans’ Game 2 triumph in Portland on Tuesday night. “He’s in a different mode.” Philadelphia visits Miami in one of two other Game 3s on FILE - In this March 27, 2013, le photo, Bruno Sammartino sits in front of pictures, panitings Thursday night, while the Spurs’ return to San Antonio after a pair and trophies highlighting his storied career as a wrestler and weightli er, at his home in his North of double-digit losses at defending champion Golden State. Holiday helped preserve New Orleans’ Game 1 victory with a leaping steal in transition during the fi nal minutes, followed by a block in the fi nal seconds. Those plays were prime examples of FIFA Council member why Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry has asserted Holiday is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. “We ask him to guard the best perimeter player and we ask him to do it while we’re also wanting him to get 20 points,” Gentry Constant Omari said, noting that Holiday has had to take turns guarding both mem- bers of Portland’s prolifi c starting backcourt, guards Damian Lil- lard and C.J. INTERPOL Integrity in Sport Bi-Weekly Bulletin 22 June 2021 - 5 July 2021 INVESTIGATIONS Cyprus Police raid Doxa’s offices in match fixing probe Police raided the offices of football team Doxa Katokopias on Wednesday evening to look for evidence regarding a case of suspected match fixing, money laundering and conspiracy. The raid follows the accusations made by Omonia president Stavros Papastavrou in September 2020 which concerned Doxa’s president Costas Christodoulou. Papastavrou at the time told reporters that Christodoulou told him that Omonia could sign Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Uzoho by paying Spanish team Deportivo La Coruna €200,000 as well as another €200,000 to him in ‘black money’. The Omonia president reported the incident to the Sports and Ethics Committee, which, in turn, told the police. Christodoulou on Thursday commented on the police raid and claimed the police are targeting the wrong person and the wrong club. “These events represent the downfall of football,” he told Ant1 news channel. “I think football is a game that should only be played on the pitch. The police raid is just a way other clubs found to intimidate us, but they will not succeed,” Christodoulou concluded. Police confiscated documents and computers during the raid.
