Included are the following components: goals and program objectives, a schedule of workshops for the 1972-1973 school year, an address list of teacher preparation programs for the deaf, a typical letter to program directors about the workshop,a preworkshop directors' questionnaire, an instructional staff information sheet, a workshop participant list, an equipment needs list, television equipment needs, a list of the workshop's training objectives, a preworkshop brochure, typical workshop schedules, and a consumable materials'list. Also included are handouts for each of the instructional sessions, task analysis and strategy statements for each session, an evaluation form for each session, a materials list, a resource list, an equipment manufacturers' list, a list of media services available for teacher- of the deaf, and an instructor's postworkshop and a participant's postworkshop reaction form.. In- cluded are Goals and Program Objectives, a 'chedule of workshops for the 1972-73 school year, address list of teacher preparation programs for the deaf, a typical letter to the Directors of these programs orienting them to the workshop, a preworkshop director's questionnaire, instruc- tional staff information sheet, workshop participant list, equipment needs list, television equipment needs, a list of all training objectives for the workshop, a preworkshop participant's questionnaire, an'individually prescribed preworkshop brochure, typical workshop schedules, consumable materials list, handouts for each of the instructional sessions, task analysis and strategy statements for each session, evaluation form for each session, materials list, resource list, equipment manufacturer's list, a section on media services available to teachers of the deaf, instructor's postworkshop reaction form and a participant reaction form. This manual is intended to be used with an administra- tive manual entitled "Media Production Workshop for Teachers of the Deaf." The workshops will provide teachers of the deaf and potential teacheru of the deaf with knowl1d0,.e related to media so that they can better utilize its potentia.-s a communicative tool for improving the instruction of dea. ,hildren. 2. It is expected that as a result of the workshops, the participants will become sensitive to the need of media as an integral part of the instructional process. 3. Participants should become aware of the potential of utilizing a, systematic procedure for the development and improvement of instruction and the role of media in this procedure. 4. Specifically the workshop intends to provide the opportunity for the participants to acquire knowledge of media production skills, utilization techniques and equipment operation skills. At the termination of each media/instructional technology work- shop, 100% of the participants will be able to correctly demonstrate 100% of those design and production techniques and equipment operation skills presented in the workshop. 2. At the termination of each media/instructional technology workshop, 100% of the participants will be able to list 80% of the media utilization techniques which were presented in the workshop. 3. At the termination of each media/instructional technology, 100% of the participants will be able to identify the roles of media in the instructional technology process and apply the basic principles of a systematic approach to designing instruction to an instruc- tional problem. 4. At the termination of each media/instructional technology workshop, 100% of the participants will be able to identify four ways in which SWRMCD and MSCF can assist them in their instruction of hearing handicapped children. FADING OUT: THE END OF 35 MM SLIDE TRANSPARENCIES TINA WEIDNER ABSTRACT This paper refects on the challenges facing conservators dealing with the preserva- tion and display of slide-based works in fne art collections following the discon- tinuation of the last remaining slide duplicating stock, Kodak Edupe, in March 2010, and the imminent demise of this analog technology. This paper explores the strategies currently available to conservators and the rapidly decreasing timeframe in which action will need to be taken. INTRODUCTION There are moments in the history of conservation when objects are radically al- tered in order to preserve what was most valued at that time. For example painted surfaces from panel paintings have in the past been stripped from their wooden support and re-adhered to canvas. Revisioning Art History: how a century of change in imaging technologies helped to shape a discipline Abstract Beginning in the latter nineteenth century, the use of photography to document works of art was a key factor in the emergence of art history as an independent discipline. The ubss equent introduction of new technologies such as lantern slides, 35mm. color slides, and carousel projectors resulted in significant transformations in pedagogy. In the twentieth century, the growing use of photographic illustrations influenced a shift in mpe hasis in the textual content of scholarly publications such as exhibition catalogs, artist monographs, and journal articles. More recently, the digital revolution has increased access to art information, transforming the ways works of art are studied and taught. Today the high quality digital image is a fundamental scholarly resource, and specialized forms of investigative photography offer new ways of analyzing the ultimate primary sources: the works of art themselves.
