MAYNE & BOYD, PRINTERS, — {Proceedings Belfast Naturalists’ Field Club . —Appendix 1887-1888.) 'gftcmne g>$?e££$ of f$e Ulorff) of gxetanb. (:-=) INTRODUCTION. N compiling the following list of the recent Marine Shells of the North of Ireland, the object of the writer has been to bring together, and present in simple and accessible form, the information which we possess regarding this attractive branch of local zoology. The literature hearing on the subject consists of a number of papers and notes scattered through various publications, some of them not easily obtainable by the enquirer, while the matter which they contain is generally in such a form that it is not easy to discover immediately what shells have been found in our district, and in what localities. Such, too, is the difference of nomencla- ture in the works referred to, that it is a task of some difficulty to compare and correlate the lists of Mollusca which they contain ; and in Thompson’s works, indeed, which were published before the value of systematic nomenclature was appreciated as it is nOw, it is occasionally very troublesome to find what species is intended. In the list which follows, the names adopted by J. Gwyn Jeffreys in his “ British Conchology” —the standard work on the subject— are employed, and where a species is referred to by any of the authors quoted under a different name, such synonym is appended in parenthesis.

Fauna norvegica 2014 Vol. 34: 7-78. The Pyramidellidae (Gastropoda, Heterobranchia) of Norway and adjacent waters. A taxonomic review Tore Høisæter1 Høisæter T. 2014. The Pyramidellidae (Gastropoda, Heterobranchia) of Norway and adjacent waters. A taxonomic review. Fauna norvegica 34: 7-78. This monograph gives a taxonomic treatment of all 54 ‘species’ of Pyramidellidae reported from Norwegian and adjacent waters. Two species, Parthenina wikanderi n.sp.and Eulimella frielei n.sp., are described as new and three are ‘resurrected’ from synonymy. Nine previously described species are reported as new records for Norway, while three species are removed from the Norwegian fauna list. All species are illustrated with LM photographs (and, in a few cases, SEM photographs), and drawings of soft parts and operculae when available. An attempt is made to upgrade the generic taxonomy of the species included. doi: 10.5324/fn.v34i0.1672. Recieved: 2014-07-01. Accepted: 2014-11-22. • Distribution of Marine, Benthic, Shell Bearing Gastropods Along the Norwegian Coast
Fauna norvegica 2009 Vol. 28: 5-106. ISSN: 1502-4873 Distribution of marine, benthic, shell bearing gastropods along the Norwegian coast Tore Høisæter Høisæter, T. 2009. Distribution of marine, benthic, shell bearing gastropods along the Norwegian coast. Fauna norvegica 28: 5-106. Based on literature data and my extensive material from along the coast, the distribution of shell bearing marine, benthic gastropods known from Norwegian waters, is outlined. The geographic area covered goes down to c. 1200 m on the continental slope, and extends from the Swedish bor- der in the south to the Russian border in the north-east. On the slope the distribution is restricted to an area east of 0°, and south of 72° N. Neither the North Sea nor the western ‘slope’ of the Norwegian Trench are included. Systematics and nomenclature follow CLEMAM (Check List of European Marine Mollusca) closely. The emphasis is on the distribution of each species within the designated area, but taxonomic and nomenclaturial problems are discussed wherever considered relevant. Altogether 365 species level taxa are included, of which 326 are considered as definitely belonging to the Norwegian fauna. The rest are recorded as doubtful, either because only empty shells have been found, or their confirmed distribution falls outside the limits here defined. Of the ‘species’ included, I consider at least 18 to be undescribed, while another 16 were described from Norwegian material after Høisæter (1986) was published. The northern distributional limit is extended for 47 species, while 11 species have received a new southern limit. Sixty six species have a generic name diferent from the one used in Høisæter (1986), while 35 species have another specific name.

ABSTRACT The evolution and diversification of euthyneuran slugs and snails was likely strongly influenced by habitat transitions from marine to terrestrial and limnic systems. Well- supported euthyneuran phylogenies with detailed morphological data can provide information on the historical, biological and ecological background in which these habitat shifts took place allowing for comparison across taxa. Acochlidian slugs are ‘basal pulmonates’ with uncertain relationships to other major panpulmonate clades.
