Kevin Jennings is a homosexual and the poster boy for NAMBLA, the North American Man Boy Love Association of pedophiles. Child molesters. NAMBLA is exactly what it sounds like. It’s an organization that promotes sex between grown men and young boys. Once, when Jennings was teaching at a private school, a 15 year old male student told him that he was having sex with an “older man” he met in the restroom of a bus station. Jennings response was to encourage the boy to continue and advise him to wear a condom, instead of immediately reporting this to the police and protecting the child. Jennings is an outspoken admirer of Harry Hay, as in this speech he gave in 1997 after Hay’s death: “One of the people that’s always inspired me is Harry Hay, who started the first ongoing gay rights groups in America.

«I Do Not Understand the United States» Exploring why the gun issue is still so controversial, and why it is so difficult to enforce meaningful legislation in the wake of recent mass shootings ASBJØRG HOMME LINDELAND SUPERVISOR Alf Thomas Tønnessen University of Agder, May 2020 Faculty of Humanities and Education Department of Foreign Languages and Translation I Acknowledgements Writing this thesis has evolved into the biggest challenge of my academic journey so far. Not to say that it would not have been equally challenging regardless, the outbreak of Covid-19 in the early part of this year changed the writing process immensely. With the country in lockdown, writing sessions in the library alongside fellow students were exchanged for social distancing, quarantine and solitude. For this reason I would like to thank my classmates who participated in daily Zoom-sessions to bring back some normality and community to a circumstance that otherwise was characterized by a lack of motivation and many unproductive days. I would also like to thank Alf Thomas Tønnessen, my advisor, for adapting so well to the changing situation and for his expertise and good advice. The gratitude I feel towards my family and friends for their unwavering belief in me and my capability to finish this assignment is not easily expressed with words. This would also never have been possible without the amazing Cristoffer Paulshus, my other half who allowed me to turn our apartment into a solitary confinement, barricade myself in our living room and occupy the entire dining table for the better part of three months.

SILENCED OR SIREN? THE “DISCOURSE OF DOUBT” AND THE PARADOXICAL BURDENS OF SURVIVOR SPEECH IN THE UNRAVELING OF “A RAPE ON CAMPUS” BY SHARON M. KANN A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate Faculty of WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY GRADUATE SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of MASTER OF ARTS Communication December, 2015 Winston-Salem, North Carolina Approved By: Alessandra Von Burg, Ph.D., Advisor Mary Dalton, Ph.D., Chair Leslie Hahner, PhD. Acknowledgements Every project represents not only an act of labor, but also a reflection of the love that went into it. This thesis is a very strong reflection of all the love and support I received while working through the thorny and uncomfortable subject matter of sexual violence. I’d like to thank my advisor, Dr. Alessandra Beasley Von Burg for providing incredible academic and personal support throughout the entire process. Without her keen eye and sense of argument, I surely would have written myself into a corner months ago. I would similarly like to thank Dr. Mary Dalton as well as Dr. Leslie Hahner who agreed to accompany me on the venture of writing both a prospectus and a thesis in the same semester. Their feedback and perspective was greatly appreciated and always on point. Thanks go as well to the Wake Forest debate team, in particular, my fellow Graduate Assistants and coaches, Jarrod Atchison and Justin Green. The spirit of the Shirley is strong in this one. I also absolutely must thank my family. My mom, dad, and brother have all supported me through every step of this process and I’m so thankful for their love.

MEYER&BOURDON_8.27.20 8/27/2020 5:25 PM SOCIAL MOVEMENTS AND STANDING IN THE AMERICAN GUN DEBATE† David S. Meyer* Kaylin Bourdon** ABSTRACT Who gets to be heard is a fundamental question in any democracy, and access to the arenas of political debate is every bit as contested as the disputes about policy within. The legal system offers rules of “standing” to determine who can make claims in a courtroom. We think the concept of standing is useful in making sense of access to a range of other political arenas as well. Notably, having an identifiable interest in the outcome of a particular set of decisions, a stake in the outcome, doesn’t necessarily grant a claimant access to an audience. Social movements work to convert stake into standing, and to win access to social and political arenas for distinct constituencies and claimants.

  • With Only a Few Exceptions, the References for the Obama Timeline Are Web Pages
With only a few exceptions, the references for The Obama Timeline are Web pages. Where information was obtained from magazines, books, or newspapers, Web pages were tracked down that contained or confirmed the same information. The result is that anyone with the desire—and the time and the patience—to check the thousands of references can do so without leaving his or her computer. Unlike books, however, Web addresses and Web pages can be changed or deleted over time. It is therefore impossible to expect all the references appearing below to remain permanently accessible. (Obama supporters have also been known to “scrub” the Internet of Web pages that may be considered damaging to him.) In many cases, multiple sources have been listed in order to compensate for the eventual and unpreventable loss of some Web pages. Hopefully, most of the references will remain valid.
