6. Pete Davis – Base Magistrate - • Talked about the D.I.R.T. program • The program is designed to promote safety and moral for off road riders. For more information on the program contact Mr. Davis at 760-725-5074 or 760-505-USMC

Scott Becherer – Navy Marine Corps Relief Society – • Talked about the society and its offerings. o 0% interest loans are provided for several situations o Quick Assist Loans up to $500 o Financial Education Briefs o Financial worksheets, budget for baby workshops, visiting nurse and thrift store. • For more information or to make an appointment, there are two locations to help: Mainside office: 760-725-5337 or SOI office: 760-725-7497.

8. LtCol Lopez – FMD – • Talked about the importance of preparing for rain season. Gutters, ditches, etc. must be cleaned out in order to prevent flooding. • Make sure to utilize the self-help program and also the units AFM team. • Make sure to continue to recycle. The recycling efforts help bring money back to the base. • Questions: o Can individual units put in requests for QRP money? Yes, contact your area commander for support and a written request must be submitted. o Can personal AC units be permitted for use in the barracks? No, per BO 11330.2K, pg. 10, paragraph 8c, personal or window ac units are prohibited. o Bldg. 14012 had rooms flooding during the last rain storm; can we with that issue? Yes, please call and submit a work order, also utilize the self-help program. Make sure the issues are getting reported o Who is responsible for taking care of the maintenance issues with regards to the AC units? Contractors are assigned to take care of those issues. We have had some issues with the contractors and are modifying those situations. o What is the priority for Work orders? Work orders are classified into 3 different categories: EM, UM and CM. EM work orders are considered emergencies and have 2 hours to respond to and 24 hours to correct the problem. UM work orders are considered urgent and have 5 days to address and correct the problem. CM work orders are considered corrective and have 30 days to address and correct the problem.

9. Roxanne Casinio – MCCS Combat Fitness – • Talked about the Tactical Athlete Challenge (TAC). o The event will be held on 07 October at the 11 Area CFT field on Mainside. Registration is from 0730-0830. This is a CG’s Cup event. Come out and participate to earn points for your unit. o There will be 3 event courses to participate in. 4 person teams composed of 4 males or 4 females. There will be awards for 1st – 3rd place.

10. SSgt Prange – MCCS Retail, Food, Leisure Hospitality & Services – • There are new bowling specials at Leatherneck Lanes • Boingo Wireless will be conducting a focus group. Come out and give your opinion. • The vending machines that are in your areas, if there is any particular product that you would like to see in the machines, call vending services at (760)725-5428. • Visit the scuba center for all your diving needs. Classes are offered in a variety of different levels. For more information call (760)725-5910. • The Paintball park offers introductory rates and group discounts. Spend the morning having as much fun as the racers.

On Saturday, October 3rd, at Holiday Park (Chestnut Street and Pio Pico, Carlsbad, CA 92008) , ALL DAY, Carlsbad Rotary is putting on their annual Oktoberfest. The AHLF needs volunteers for this event. For every volunteer we provide, we receive $25 an hour, and we only have 30 of Carlsbad Rotary Club 10/3/2015 [email protected] our 75 shifts filled! We will be giving you a free meal ticket when you check-in, if you sign up for a 3 hour shift. It is a fun event so grab some friends and sign up today! Calavera Middle School in Carlsbad is requesting volunteers for their Red Ribbon Week events during the week of October 26-30. Make a real difference in the life of a young boy or Basketball Coach November - Sue Irey girl. Coach coed team in 1st and 2nd grades, boys in 3rd – 8th grade or Community Centers in February [email protected] girls in 3rd – 9th grade. There will be a one-hour practice each week at Carlsbad a time that fits your schedule beginning Nov. 9. Basketball games last one hour on Saturdays and start in December. Practices and games are held at community centers in Carlsbad.

Strong Marine Volunteers Needed at Heritage Park Village Museum. Heritage Park Village Museum is nearly finished renovating the historic buildings that offer visitors the opportunity to “step back in time” and glimpse Oceanside at its incorporation in 1888. Marines were among the volunteers that worked to bring this Park into existence during our country’s bicentennial celebration in 1976. The Park is made up of representative and historic buildings; including the original Oceanside Heritage Park Village Terry Ann Larson Jail formerly used for its holding cells by the Camp Pendleton military Flexible Museum 951-239-2355 police. The museum furnishings and artifacts were removed from many of the buildings and put into storage to enable renovations and remodeling. Now that they have completed some of this work, they need to return the furnishings to the buildings. They are in need of 4-6 strong Marines to lift and move some large and heavy glass display cases from storage in the Livery Stable to their respective buildings onsite. It will probably not take more than four hours of work; the day and time is flexible, however, they need help as soon as possible.

Mondays - Big Brother Big Sisters of San Diego is looking for active duty and civilian 1430-1530 or volunteers for our Operation Bigs program which takes place on all 5 1500-1600 elementary schools on Camp Pendleton. In our program, the Big Wednesdays - Brother and Big Sister volunteers meet with their Little Brothers and 1300-1400 or Cory Schurlock Big Brothers, Big Sisters Little Sisters for one hour one day a week (times and dates are the same 1330-1430 858-746-9178 of San Diego every week) at the child’s school site. We offer comfortably furnished rooms with bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, living, dining, laundry and play rooms. The home provides free temporary lodging so Kiana Bright Fisher House Camp military families can be close to their loved ones during a medical crisis. Our Fisher House has a full-time staff but depends on volunteers and voluntary support to enhance daily operations and program expansion. Have you ever wanted to volunteer with teens and young adults with special needs? Do you have a desire to help others? If so, this could be a great opportunity for you. This group helps teens with special needs (such as autism) learn the dynamics of building friendships, social skills and self-expression through fresh and creative avenues. Drawing on peers and professionals from the music community, this group experiences music recording, instrument exploration, improvisational songwriting, drumming and other projects based on the interests and [email protected] Banding Together needs of the group. This pilot program will involve a total of 6 jam (619)299-1411 sessions, and volunteers (peer mentors) must be able to attend all six sessions to sign up. Each Jam Session will feature a special “rock star” guest musician and will be facilitated by board-certified music therapists. Peer mentor will help nurture inclusion opportunities for this special group. Each peer mentor will be paired with a teen as a buddy for the duration of the six sessions and must attend a mandatory training session prior to the first group. This opportunity will be once a month on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30pm starting in the fall of 2012.
