Your day at College will be quite different from school. Lessons start from 8.50 and finish at 4.30 each day. Much of your time during the week will involve classroom teaching in each of your subjects, the rest is used for private study to prepare for lessons, to work on assignments and for reviewing your learning.

At first it seemed like I had too much free time, but I soon found there was always something more I could do, and now I like being able to get my work done in this environment. Your Personal Learning and Development Your time at Alton College will be very short, compared to school, and therefore you need to make the most of it while you are here. To help you to be successful, and to help you prepare for progression to work or Higher Education, you will have an additional compulsory lesson each week. Doing an extended project on a medical topic also gave me the chance to develop research skills. Being able to spend time with my tutors made my university application stronger and the process much easier.
