Contact: Michele Citterio, GEUS ([email protected]) Seismological stations As part of GEUS ongoing work with screening for areas in danger of landslides, four new seismological stations were installed in 2018 Central West Greenland.

Time has come now to take them back home.

The stations add to the existing network, giving us a denser and better spaced network in an area with potential risk for landslides.

This allows us to better locate all events in the area, and more confidently separate tectonic, glacial and landslide events. All data are publicly available.

Yderligere et Nice-to have” løft om muligt.

Equipment and sampling programme Marine sediment coring (gravity corer) CTD, water and plankton sampling Sub-bottom profiling of the seabed Objectives WP1 – Modern oceanography O 1.1 – Document summer water column properties O 1.2 – Characterize the West Greenland current system WP2 – Ecosystem dynamics O 2.1 – Identify drivers of primary productivity and biogeochemical fluxes O 2.2 – Characterize spatial trends in the distribution of plankton species O 2.3 – Further explore biodiversity trends with eDNA and biomarkers WP3 – Holocene paleoceanography and ecosystem changes O 3.1 – Reconstruct changes over the Holocene at the sea surface (SST, sea ice cover) and at depth (WGC variability) O 3.2 – Reconstruct paleoproductivity including sea ice vs. pelagic productivity O 3.3 – Explore the potential of sedimentary ancient DNA to trace ecosystem and biodiversity trends

There are no available berths onboard this expedition, but we are open to collaboration, sharing samples, and collecting additional samples for colleagues if possible (contact [email protected]).

Logistics workshop Sofia Ribeiro – [email protected] Seafloor and shallow seismic mapping, -Sisimiut

Objective: Detailed mapping of seafloor and late Quaternary deposits. Consultancy task for DeBeers.

Area of operation: Continental shelf between Nuuk and Sisimiut

Platform and participants: RV Sanna; 7 (PI, tech, scientists, client rep)

Instruments/data: Multibeam/side-scan sonar, Innomar sediment echosounder (including deep-tow system), high-resolution seismicGeological profiles. Survey of and Greenland Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate Operation period: 14 Sept – 23 Oct 2021

Contact: Paul Knutz [email protected] Dynamics of Landslides, Tsunamis & Climate

Objective: Acquire new geophysical and geological data to constrain the age, volume, morphology and composition of individual mass transport deposits on and below the seabed. Funded by DCH and GEUS.

Hypothesis: Landslides are most likely to occur during periods of climate warming.

Area of operation: Vaigat, north of Nuussuaq, possibly Karrat fjord.

Platform and participants: RV Sanna; 6 (GEUS, AU, KU, GNI).

Instruments/data: Multibeam/side-scan sonar, Innomar sediment echosounder, high-res seismic profiles, gravity coring.
