I'm sure most of you are familiar with them, people that sit at Neutral Auction Houses, looking for items that people are trying to trade across factions. You put a level 85 BoE Epic up on the Neutral Auction House for 1 gold from your Alliance character, with the intent of buying it out with your Horde character and then reselling it on horde side for a profit or to help gear up your new alt. Before you are able to buy the item out, you see the message "A Buyer has been found" and your heart just sinks. Someone just scored your 40,000gold worth BoE epic for 1 gold. Cross-Faction trading IS allowed by Blizzard, however they do NOT encourage it. You are allowed to "Snipe" items on the Neutral Auction House as long as you are not using and automation or programs/addons that are not allowed as stated in Blizzard's ToS and EULA. So often while I monitor the Neutral Auction House do I see people absolutely LOADING it with like 60 Primordial Saronite for 1gold a stack before actually trying to buy it out. This is just plain stupid. Do a background check. Type /who Stranglethorn Vale, /who Winterspring and /who Tanaris. This is where the Neutral Auction Houses are located. If you see a level 1-10 in any of those zones you should be VERY suspicious and careful because most likely they are there to steal your auctions. Check your forums. Check your realm forums to see if anyone has complained or sent out a warning to other players on your forum about such sniping activities. Many victims to this sort of thing will go and post on the forums to prevent others from falling victim to a similar sort of thing. Run a few scans with the settings that I provided above, just to check that no one else is also trading at the same time. If for example you fall prey to someone sniping your auction, that person will often add you to their friends list so they can see when ever you come online and where you are. If you lose your auctions at say 10pm at night. The sniper then knows you trade at 10pm at night and will most likely be waiting for you there the following night just incase. To start off with the obvious, if you are on a PvP server and they are on the other faction you can kill them and then trade before they ress. If they are on your faction, you could try pay a level 85 on the other faction to kill them for you. If it's not a PvP server, you do have other options. For example you can go to your reputation tab and select "At War" with Steemwheedle Cartel, and this will now allow you to attack the Auctioneer. Kill the Auctioneer on an alt/main and then jump onto another character at another Neutral Auction House and transfer the goods while the bot is waiting for the Auctioneer to respawn. Finally you can (and actually should always) be "sniping" your own goods. Setup your Addons like I explained in the original post and start scanning for deals on your character you want to buy with. As soon as your selling account/character puts the items up, the buying account/character will spot the goods and ask you if you want to buy/snipe them.
