X. General Information

 Tagaytay City Located in the province of which is just an hour’s drive from Manila, the city of Tagaytay is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Philippines primarily because of its world-renowned natural wonders. It is the only city where you can find the which forms “an island within a Lake on an Island within a Lake on an Island"! The volcano is one of the smallest—rather lowest—volcanoes in the world.

 Weather The Philippines, in general, have a tropical climate, with an average temperate around 30 degrees Celsius (88° Fahrenheit) and humidity of 75%. The year is divided into two distinct seasons:  the rainy season which begins around June and ends late October and  the dry season, which runs from November to May. The hottest months are April and May when temperatures can reach as high as 39 degrees Celsius (102° Fahrenheit).

Tagaytay City’s beautiful atmosphere and cooler weather provided by its high altitude are what makes it one of the favourite getaways of those who seek respite from the daily pressures of life in the Philippines’ metropolis, even in other areas around the globe. Compared to other areas in the Philippines, Tagaytay has lower average temperature of 24 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit). With its high elevation, the city could be misty at times and is relatively cooler during the months of December, January and February.

 Time The Philippine Standard Time is 8 hours ahead of GMT. Daylight saving time (DST) is not adopted in the Philippines.

 Currency The official currency of the Philippines is the Philippine Peso (PHP). Retailers in the Philippines will generally not accept other currencies, so it is necessary for visitors to change foreign currency into Philippine Pesos to make cash payments.

No person may import nor bring with him into or take out of the country, or electronically transfer, legal tender Philippine notes and coins and/or checks, money order and/or other bills of exchange draw in Philippine Pesos against banks operating in the Philippines in an amount exceeding PHP 10 000 without authorization by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines).

Any person, who brings into or takes out of the Philippines foreign currency, as well as other foreign currency-denominated instruments or bearer monetary instruments in excess of US$ 10 000 or its equivalent, is required to declare the same in writing and to furnish information on the source and purpose of the transport of such currency or monetary instrument.

Participants coming from countries other than the Philippines are advised to have foreign currencies exchanged into the local currency (Philippine Peso) at NAIA, after clearing immigrations and customs. As of this writing, the average exchange rate is USD 1= PHP 46

 Credit Cards Visa and MasterCard are accepted at most establishments. Most public transportation, small shops, and restaurants accept only cash payment in Philippine Pesos.

 Electricity Supply. The power supply in the Philippines is 220-240 volts, 60 hertz.
