EBBW V ALE is a large district, comprising Ebbw Vale, Brierley Hill, N ewtown, Pontygof and Victoria; they are all adjoining each other, and are situated in Vale of the river Ebbw, in the parish of Bedwelty, two miles from the railway station of Tredegar, 20 from Newport, and 20 from . The inhabitants are principally employed in the coal and iron works. The Church, dedicated to Christ, is a good building in the Early English style.
