The conclusion to this series of origin stories for the world of the Dark Crystal ends at a logical point in history and incorporates some unused concepts developed by Jim Henson and Brian Froud.     The Dark Crystal Author Quest Contest FAQ Hi, fellow Dark Crystal fans, There’s been a lot of positive feedback so far on the Author Quest—as well as a few questions. First off, let me say that what you’re seeing on darkcrystal.com right now is just the beginning of something very exciting. Our friends over at The Jim Henson Company are working away on an online experience that encapsulates everything about the world of The Dark Crystal. This site, which launches in the next few weeks, will be more than just an encyclopedia. It will be the destination for all things Dark Crystal and it will be a place where all fans can connect with each other or reach out with questions. In the meantime, however, I would like to use this space to address a few of the questions/concerns that I’ve read online. Is this novel meant to be a sequel or a prequel to the film? This new Dark Crystal novel will be a prequel story set at the time of the Gelfling Gathering, between the Second Great Conjunction and the creation of the Wall of Destiny. The universe of The Dark Crystal is so vast, why are we limited to the Gelfling Gathering? This was no easy decision. We want to give the writers as much freedom to create as possible.
