We will visit the Cathedral and the Palazzo Bellomo Gallery, which houses a work by Caravaggio. We also see the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, a Greek ruin dating from the 6th century BC, and the oldest known Doric temple in Europe. Please note that a reasonable level of fitness is needed for this tour, which is entirely on foot. Please wear comfortable shoes. The tour will last around 2 hours.

Return to the ship for lunch. The Pupillo Winery Marianne Swienink-Havard and André Havard Depart the ship for the afternoon concert, to be held at the Pupillo Winery. Founded in 1908 by Baron Antonino Pupillo, the winery is built around a chateau several centuries old. Refreshments will be served in the central courtyard before the concert, which takes place in what is probably the original room where the grapes were pressed and the wine produced.

Thursday 8 September Kalamata Docked  Shore concert: We arrive in Kalamata in the early afternoon. After lunch on the ship, depart for the afternoon concert which will be held in the Classical Filoxenia Hotel, which is located on the outskirts of Kalamata on the Messinian gulf with crystal clear azure-blue waters and 300 meters of smooth pebble beach. Drinks and canapés will be taken in the hotel gardens, before the concert which will be held in a spacious private room.

Friday 9 September Hydra At Anchor  Shore concert: We arrive in Hydra in the early afternoon. After the tender ashore, we make our way to the Hydra Museum for our afternoon concert. The Museum celebrates the seafaring history of the Hydriots and their contributions to Greece’s many wars. Notable exhibits include the embalmed heart of Admiral Andreas Miaoulis. The Museum also depicts the sad story of patriot Kouroulis Michalis who “died of sorrow caused by the renewed enslavement of his homeland” in 1832.
