“DIEGO” is a member of the Garifuna ethnic group from Honduras, where he was verbally and physically attacked for his ethnic identity, received death threats from a coworker, and was extorted and threatened by MS-13 gang members at his apartment building. After fleeing Honduras with his family, Diego made it to Massachusetts, where ICE detained him. With GBLS’ representation, Diego was granted relief from deportation and released from detention to rebuild a life with his wife and children.

After “Alden” was diagnosed with a rare disease that impacted his vision and afflicted him with chronic pain, he became unable to work and fell behind on his student loans and credit card bills.
