Daniel D. New The father of Army Specialist Michael G. New, Daniel is a Christian without apology, and a fifth generation Texan without apology. Until recent years, he was an American without apology, but out so-called "leaders" have become a world-wide embarrassment to any decent American traveling abroad. Daniel writes and lectures extensively on a wide variety of topics. He and his wife, Suzanne, have homeschooled their seven children (a medium-sized family) while living in Texas, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and The Philippines. He is an ornamental horticulturist by training, an amature linguist, an avid gardener and poultryman by avocation, a patent-holding inventor, and an avid student of the "Literature of Freedom". The Michael New Action Fund is responsible for the legal defense for Michael New, as well as a world-wide public education effort to teach concerned citizens about what is happening to national sovereignty. They have one documentary video available, GOOD CONDUCT, The Story of Michael New. To contact Daniel or Michael New: Michael New Action Fund P.O. He is the chief organizer of the Coalition for the American Sovereignty and Bill of Rights, which includes more than 50 organizations opposes the International Criminal Court. He lectures widely and serves as a consultant on international affairs. Cliff is the author or co-author of six books, including Michael New: Mercenary or American Soldier, which examines the case of the U.S. soldier court-martialed for refusing to wear a U.N. uniform; The United Nations' Global Welfare Giveaway, on the push for Third World "debt relief;" and The Playboy Foundation: A Mirror of the Culture? (Capital Research Center), on the harmful influence of Hugh Hefner, his magazine and corporation on American society and culture. In addition to writing the Washington Watch column for the American Legion Magazine, Cliff interviewed Senator Strom Thurmond and Rep. Christopher Cox for the publication. He previously served as an aide to Oliver North, former National Security Council staffer, at Freedom Alliance, a group based in Virginia. A recognized and respected figure in the conservative movement, Cliff has been a featured speaker at such events as the Conservative Political Action Conference, the Conservative Leadership Conference, and regular AIM conferences. A controversial and frequent guest on radio and television, Cliff was a guest co-host on CNN's Crossfire until he was banned from the program for talking tough to the Ambassador from Libya back in the 1980s. Kincaid challenged the ambassador to explain Libya's role in international terrorism. Kincaid's article in the Washington Post was just as controversial, challenging Rush Limbaugh's conservative credentials and authenticity. As president of America's Survival, a public policy organization, he directs a national educational campaign to expose threats to America's sovereignty and the liberties guaranteed by the Constitution. America's Survival has achieved national press attention for having pressed for the release of secret State Department documents in the Pan Am 103 terrorism case. All but one of the 550 soldiers were wearing a sky-blue baseball-style cap with a United Nations insignia on the front. One was wearing the olive-drab flat cap that is authorized to be worn with the Battle Dress Uniform. With this simple act of disobeying a direct order, Spc. 4 Michael New set the stage for a legal battle that has profound implications for the future of American soldiers into service of the United Nations without the constitutional permission of Congress. America stands at a crossroads in history. Will we face the future as an independent Republic? Or will our grandchildren grow up in a New World Order governed from New York City, where we as a Member State, can be consistently outvoted by a hundred other countries who do not share our hertitage, our values, and our interest? This legal case may well determine the future of our nation. Michael and Claudia New with Michael’s attorney retired Col. Henry Hamilton. 5 Chapter 1 “I Think I’m Going to be Court-Martialed.” August 21, 1995 The call was unexpected. Michael, calling from Germany, where he was stationed, had phoned us over the weekend, and we didn’t think he would be calling again on a Monday morning. “Dad,” he said, “I think I’m going to be court-martialed.” These words stuck into me like a knife. “What on earth have you done,” I asked. “I haven’t done anything,” he said. “It’s for something I’m not going to do. They’ve told me that I have to wear the United Nations uniform on our coming deployment into Macedonia, and I told them I have a problem with that order.” Later, he added, “You know, Dad, if they can force me to wear that blue helmet in Europe, then what’s to keep them from forcing me to wear it someday in Texas or some other state? The real question is one of authority -- where do they get it?” These statements put Michael right in the middle of a debate which continues over the meaning of his oath, which consists of the following: “I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the uniform code of military justice. So help me God.”1 I’m often asked if we are bitter or angry over our son Michael being prosecuted for refusing to wear a United Nations uniform and refusing to report to a foreign military commander. Some people think we ought to be completely disgusted with a system that punished my son, a soldier with an excellent service record and a promising military career, for standing up for America, his oath, and against United Nations control of our troops. I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t say that I’ve shaken my head in disbelief, even dismay, over how our nation has come to this point. But we hope and pray that the case of Army Specialist Michael New can help to turn our country around. It will take years, but I’m convinced that if the American people appreciate and understand this case, there will be a growing tide of opposition against the pretenders in power who are subverting our constitutional republic. My own father, Clyde New,2 used to emphasize that standing up for freedom is the responsibility of all citizens, and is not an action or an event – that it is instead a lifestyle – a commitment upon which our national freedom depends. If enough citizens just go along to get along, “go with the flow,” and take the easy road, then this Republic will die. These are not empty words. They are a recognition of what this case represents. All of our most cherished values -- freedom, family, service, sacrifice, sovereignty and independence - are wrapped up in this case. I recognize there are those who believe that it simply involves a case of a soldier who was punished for disobeying an order. But I challenge those holding this belief to take another look – to understand who Michael is, and who we are – his family, friends, allies and supporters. We are the American people. And we want our country back. There are those who expect that the treatment of Michael has shaken our faith in America and its institutions. But, because our faith is in a Supreme Creator, and because we understand the sinful nature of a fallen mankind, we are not surprised when men assume power and then quickly find themselves wallowing in the corruption which Lord Acton so accurately predicted. 1 “Your Oath. Defending the Constitution. Our Common Bond.” Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, The Pentagon, Washington, D.C. 20310. 2 Clyde Wayne New, USMC 1942-1945. American patriot. Eighty years old as this book is written. 6 The arrogance of this administration in turning over our sovereignty is not the only controversy that has drawn attention to the fact that corruption has infected our governmental institutions. It would take more than a chapter just to list them, and there are books upon books available on that subject. The Clinton-Gore Administration has raised arrogant lawlessness to an unprecedented level. What has happened to Michael New is part of a pattern. An Administration which orders a young soldier to report to the U.N. will sell our sovereignty to the United Nations and security to China.
