Kodaikanal and Uthagamandalam recorded Maximum temperature range 17oC – 22oC during the period. Minimum temperature of range 22oC - 30oC prevailed over the State. DISTRICT LEVEL ENSEMBLE WEATHER FORECASTISSUED ON: 27.06.2017 VALID FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS Districtwise Agromet Advisories Chennai Livestock: Light rainfall may be expected on 28.06.2017 and 01.07.2017. During summer 3 grams of Aspergillusorizae yeast to be added to the feed to reduce heat stress to the animals. Paddy straw and other dry roughages must be chapped into 1-2 inches length and smear with 2% salt solution to reduce wastage of feed. Feeders should be raised in poultry shed between 10 am to 5 pm to avoid heat stroke. Coconut leaves or paddy straws may be spread over the roof of the animal shed and spray water to avoid heat stress to the animals. Sheep and goat shed remove 3-4 inches of mud floor and replace it with new mud to avoid infection. Sheep and goat should be dewormed by using suitable anthelminthic by consulting with local veterinary doctor. Backyard poultry farmer advised to vaccinate against ranikhet disease. Crops: Rice, Sugarcane and Groundnut To control thrips and other sucking pest in cotton spray Imidacloprid 200 SL @ 100 ml/ha (or) Dimethoate 30 EC @ 500 ml/ha or Azadirachtin 0.03% EC @ 500 ml/ha. To control powdery mildew in rice fallow pulses, spray 5% Neem Seed Kernel Extract or Mancozeb @ 400 g/ac or Wettable Sulphur @ 1 kg/ac during morning or evening hours.
