In comparison to coastal parts of the Australian continent, whole is very widespread,ranging from westAfrica through Salticidae from inland Australia are still poorly studied. the , southernAsia, New Guinea and Australia Preliminary dataindicate that the inland dry areashave their to western and middle Pacific islands. There are about 50 own, endemic fauns, genera Grayenulla and Afraflacilla speciesknown worldwide, most of them are described in being good examples (Zabka, 1992, 1993, unpubl.). (e.g., Pr6szyiski, 1992; Beny et al., 1998). At present,seven species of Grayenulla are known from Festucula, andPseudicius are the closestrelatives scatteredlocalities in Western Australia. Even if found in of Afraflacilla and they form a monophyletic group. coastal areas, they are limited in occurrence to savannah and semideserthabitats, being either ground or vegetation dwellers.The relationshipof this genusto othersis puzzling. Clypeus orange with numerous white hairs and with 3 femoral stripe. Legs II missing. All legs with numerous cenffal brown bristles. Eyes surroundedwith orange scale-like orange-brown spines. Hair cover moderate, white, orange hairs. Chelicerae light-brown with 2 prolateral teeth and I and brownish. Epigyne (Fig. 2E-F). Without posterior refrolateral tooth. Maxillae and labium elongate, orange with pockets, copulatory openings well visible, insemination lighter chewing margins. Sternum smudgedorange, darker ducts broad with accessoryglands. Spermathecaeoval but marginally. Venter beige. First legs massive, dark-orange, relatively smaller than in other species.Dimensions: CL femora with 5-6 stridulatory tubercles,tibiae with a single 2.07,BFL 0.75,AEW 0.92,PEW 0.89,CW 1.24,AL2.67. anterolateral spine and metatarsi with 2 pairs of short spines. Diagnosis. This speciescan be recognised by its epigyne Female. Thorax brown with radial pattern of darker lines. and internal senitalia. Eye field brown-black. Fovea region and lateral thorax orange, the latter with a narrow dark grey marginal band. 1I and 9 stridulatory tubercleson left and right side of cephalothorax,respectively. Cephalothorax covered with numerous white hairs, eye field with additional brown bristles-most numerous anteriorly.Abdomen (Fig. aA) with yellowish and dark pattern, the latter made of pigment and densehairs. Clypeusorange, densely covered with white scale-like and longer yellowish hairs. Chelicerae dark orange with 2 prolateral teeth and 1 retrolateral tooth. Pedipalps yellow, covered with long yellowish hairs. Legs yellow with sparsewhite hair cover and long brown bristles. Femora I with 5-6 stridulatory tubercles.Epigyne (Fig. 4B,C) relatively short, with 2 anterior depressionsand translucentinternal structures.Insemination ducts long and coiled, distally more sclerotised,spermathecae in the form of parallel central channels, fertilisation ducts distinctive, epigynal pocketslocated posteriorly----close to the epigastric furrow.
