Broadcast Live on Pop and Hosted by Tyra Banks THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES ANNOUNCES WINNERS FOR THE 42nd ANNUAL DAYTIME EMMY® AWARDS Broadcast Live on Pop and Hosted by Tyra Banks Betty White Honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award Burbank, CA – April 26, 2015 – The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced the winners of the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards in a sold-out gala for over 1,200 attendees held at Stage 16 of the historic Warner Bros. Studios Lot in Burbank, CA. The awards presentation was broadcast live on Pop at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT. “What an eclectic mix of the magnificent bounty that is Daytime Television,” said Bob Mauro, President, NATAS. “So many stars lighting up the red carpet at the iconic Warner Bros. Studio Lot in addition to the indefatigable, unparalleled Betty White as our Lifetime Achievement Award honoree. This is a terrific showcase of the power of Daytime Television that will be remembered for years to come!” Tonight’s telecast was hosted by Tyra Banks and included an over-flowing lineup of television talent including Regis Philbin, Steve Harvey, Marie Osmond, Craig Ferguson, Deidre Hall, Nancy O’Dell, Shemar Moore and Alex Trebek. Also presenting are cast members from the four daytime soaps, including Daniel Goddard, Justin Hartley and Melissa Claire Egan of “The Young and The Restless,” Kirsten Storms and Ryan Paevey of “General Hospital,” Christopher Sean, Freddie Smith and Guy Wilson of “Days of Our Lives” and Jacob Young, Karla Mosley and Linsey Godfrey of “The Bold and the Beautiful.” In addition, there were special appearances by Mario Lopez, Tom Bergeron, Leeza Gibbons, Chrissy Teigen, Alan Thicke, Kevin Frazier, Vicki Lawrence, Eileen 1 Davidson and Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood, all of “The Talk.” The 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs broadcast during the 2014 calendar year. The 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards is a presentation of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in cooperation with the Television Academy (ATAS). Two hundred and eighty- three episodes were viewed to understand how black female identity is represented in primetime soap and how genre influences those representation. Using Collins (2009) theory of controlling images, this study found that black female protagonists were depicted as jezebels and matriarchs. The welfare mother stereotype was updated by portrayals of black woman as hard working. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he got his start in the entertainment industry as a drummer for several punk bands in the UK. Following his musical stint, he began bartending at a local pub in Glasgow where he was introduced to Michael Boyd, the artistic director of The Tron Theatre in Glasgow who persuaded Ferguson to give acting a go. After several low playing acting gigs, he discovered he had a knack for comedy and was soon the star of his own BBC television show, “The Ferguson Theory” in 1994. After several stints on the English comedy circuit, Ferguson brought his act to the US in 1995 when he starred with Marie Osmond and Betty White in the short-lived ABC sitcom, “Maybe This Time.” After the show ended, the network decided to add the talented Scotsman to “The Drew Carey Show” where he joined the cast in 1996 playing the role of Drew’s boss, “Nigel Wick” for eight seasons. Along with acting, he has written such feature films as The Big Tease (1999) and Saving Grace (2000). He made his directorial debut with the 2003 film, I’ll Be There which he also wrote and starred in. It went on to receive the Audience Award for Best Film at the Aspen, Dallas and Valencia film festivals … he was also named “Best New Director” at the Napa Valley Film Festival.

    DRAMA PERFORMER PRE-NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 44th ANNUAL DAYTIME EMMY® AWARDS New York – January 25, 2017 – The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the Drama Performer Pre-Nominations for the 44th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards. The process used to determine those chosen as Pre-Nominated performers follows: An online judging ballot containing all entrants in each of four performer categories (Lead Actor and Actress and Supporting Actor and Actress) was sent to all registered, eligible peer judges. The ballot contained a randomized order of performers in each category, regardless of their show affiliation. Judges were required to view clips online containing the work of each performer entry before selecting their top 10 performer choices in each category. Ballots were submitted directly to Lutz & Carr, Inc., an independent accounting firm, who tabulated the results. The candidates below who received the highest number of votes now advance to the blue ribbon screening round, scheduled to begin on February 20, 2017, which will determine both nominees and recipients. Please note that this release also contains the names of the entrants for the Younger Actor and Actress categories, who will proceed directly to the Blue Ribbon Round. Nominations will be announced on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, live on “The Talk” on CBS.
