Enabling/Regulating Authority Manatee County Comprehensive Plan Manatee County Land Development Code Background Discussion ● This ordinance is to amend the definitions relative to “Farm Animal” so as to delete the regulation of chickens from the regulations applicable to farm animals; adding a cross reference to the location of regulations applicable to chickens in the Manatee Code of Ordinances. ● The Board has directed staff to draft a separate ordinance pertaining to the regulation of chickens in urban areas. This is a separate item that will be brought before the Board of County Commissioners at a future date. ● On April 11, 2013, by a vote of 6 – 0, the Planning Commission recommended approval.
