Why the Immaculate Heart? Seeing Our Lady very sad, one of the visionaries of Rwanda exclaimed: "I know what makes you suffer. It is because the day will come when we will wish we had listened to what you have been telling us about loving, serving, and doing what you ask. .. but it will be too late." Dee n May 1981, while researching the Fatima message, I came I across a commemorative text concerning Fatima which had just been broadcast over Radio Vatican. In part it said: Neither Pope John XXIII nor Pope Paul VI, considered it advisable to reveal to the world the thirdpart ofthe secret ofFatima. However it is certain that the third part ofthe Secret is ofpartz'cular gravity. Have we reached a.fullness of times? Are we living the beginning of the Apocalypse prophesied by St. John? The time has come when words are not enough anymore. It is now necessary to act immediately if we wish that humanity, that each ofus, may be able to see, beside the fire, the light. I was stunned. Why was the authoritative and conser vative Radio Vatican referring to fire and apocalyptic times? I sensed the Holy See was issuing a wake-up call. Mary's Rightful Place This is what I believe: Mary's rightful place beside Jesus needs to be established to prepare for the fulfillment of a promise made by Our Lady at Fatima, which was the conversion of Russia and a time of world peace. It is the long awaited Triumph of Her Immaculate Heart promised at Fatima that will bring peace to all nations. The entire Catholic world, led by the Holy Father, is anticipating and yearning for this victory. Tied together with this victory are three messages of the twentieth century-Fatima, Amsterdam, and Akita-guiding the destiny of mankind in the new millennium. Fatima occurred in 1917. Twenty-eight (28) years after Fatima, in 1945, Our Lady of All Nations came to Amsterdam. After another 28 years, She manifested Herself in Akita, ,Japan. Another 28 years will bring us to the first year of the third millennium, 2001. Bishop John Ito, Ordinary of Akita who approved the n ppn rlt ions, wrote to me after he briefed the Holy Father v about the Akita events and presented his pastoral to Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger for approval. Bishop Ito was certain that Akita was an extension of Fatima. And Cardinal Ratzinger personally confirmed to me that these two messages, of Fatima and Akita, are essentially the same. Necessary to Act Immediately We must heed the advice of Radio Vatican given in May, 1981 (at the time of the attempted assassination of the Pope): "The time has come when words are not enough anymore. It is now necessary to act immediately if we wish that humanity, that each ofus, may be able to see, besides the fire, the light." Two thousand years ago the Holy Spirit came upon Mary, and when the power of the Most High overshadowed Her, She conceived Jesus, Son of God. Now it is the Mother of all Nations, the Coredemprix, Mediatrix of all Grace and Advocate, who will accompany Her Spouse to descend into our hearts and souls and recreate in each of us-if we give our fiat-the likeness of Jes us. United with the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, in Their passion for the Father's Will, with the fire of the Holy Spirit blazing in us, we can dispel the darkness that shrouds the world and renew the face of the earth. Ambassador Dee with the Holy Father. For a more compre hensive statement, see the Nov. 1998 edition of Inszde the Vatican. Authorizing this foreword, his Excellency said: "Let us pray it is not too late." vi "Several entire nations will be annihilated ... To prevent this ... If my requests are heard ... My Immaculate Heart will triumph and an era of peace will be granted to mankind ... " - Our Lady ofFatima "I have today set before you life and prosperity, death and doom ... Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live by loving the Lord your God, heeding His voice ... " - Exhortation ofMoses Deut. 30:15-20 "O how wonderful it will be to hear Our Lady hailed QUEEN OF THE WORLD. It will be a time of peace, joy, and well being, which will last a long time." - St. Catherine Laboure "It will be a time of great joy when Mary, as Mistress and Queen of Hearts, is enthroned." - St. Grignion de Monifort 1 CHAPTER ONE TOO LATE FOR RWANDA he world was shocked to learn that in Rwanda T over 500,000 people were brutally killed by their own neighbors. The world would be far more shocked if it realized that God gave Rwanda a warning. The tragedy could have been prevented. And something even worse is now predictedfor each one of us. Most know through press reports about the brutal slaugh ter in Rwanda. Very few, however, seem aware that ten years before the massacre, the Blessed Virgin appeared to warn them and to give specific requests to avoid a "river ofblood" Her requests were not heard. And the warning message She had given came true to the letter: "A river of blood ... people killing each other ... bodies without their heads." Many of the half million who died were beheaded. Equivalent to 25 Million Killed in U.S. To understand the magnitude of this, relative to the population of Rwanda, the half million killed there would be equivalent in the United States to the mass slaying of TWENTY FIVE MILLION. And this horror, which literally staggers the imagination, is not over. It will not be over for years to come. Many of us entered the third millennium with so much hope. At the same time, the 175,000 arrested for the massacre were crowded in small cells-as many as seventy in an area fifteen feet square-while only four judges were hearing their cases. Most of them would probably die in jail. Counting 2 members of their families (parents, brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren), the extended suffering greatly exceeded the half million who were killed. Why Didn't the Catholics Listen? Since many Rwandans are Catholic, why did they ignore the warning given them by the Mother of Heaven? I was asked in 1982, at the time of the visions in Rwanda, to translate the messages into English. I wrote to the local bishop to know whether the apparitions were credible. He answered that they were. 22,000 Rwandans saw the visionaries cry out, as Our Lady described what was going to happen, during apparitions which lasted continuously over a period of many weeks. And then, they had ten years to respond. What must be most chilling for us is that Our Lady said in Rwanda that She came for the entire world. She said: "I am concerned not only for Rwanda or for the whole of Africa. I am concerned with, and turning to, the whole world. The world is on the edge of catastrophe." "But It Will Be Too Late" There is something still more chilling. One visionary, seeing Our Lady so sad, said: "I know what makes you suffer. It is because the day will come when we will wish we had listened to what you have been telling us about loving, serving, and doing what you ask but it will be too late." Only ten years later, "the river of blood, people killing people, bodies without heads" changed from prophecy to grim reality.

  • Problems with the Amsterdam Visions and Ida Peerdeman
Problems with the Amsterdam visions and Ida Peerdeman da Peerdeman, the visionary from Holland, claimed that she first saw Mary during the Second World War, on 25 March 1945, the feast of the Annunciation, and that these visions continued intermittently until 1984, although the main series of fifty-six visions apparently concluded in 1959. On the first Ioccasion, she was at home, talking with her spiritual director, a certain Fr. J. Frehe, and her sisters, when she said she felt drawn to the next room where: “I suddenly saw a light and said to myself: ‘Where is this light coming from? What a curious light?’ The wall then disappeared before my eyes. There was instead one sea of light in an empty space, and out of it I suddenly saw a figure moving forward, a female figure.” Ida goes on to relate how: “She was clad in white and wore a sash. She stood with her arms lowered and the palms of her hands turned outwards toward me. I thought it must be the Blessed Virgin and that it could not be anyone else. I then said: ‘Are you Mary?’ She answered: ‘They will call me the Lady, Mother.’” By this time she had been joined by the others who heard her repeating what the Vision had said to her, as the priest remarked: “Lady? Well, I never heard that before. The Lady!” Fr. Frehe was right to question such an appellation for Mary, for this title of “the Lady,” rather than “our Lady,” for the Blessed Virgin, is indeed strange.

  • In Fatima on the 8Th Day of the Novena
The Message of Fatima 100th Anniversary – 2017 1914-Apparition At 7 years old I (Lucia) began tending our flock of sheep. One day as we (Lucia & some friends) saw for the 1st time a figure that had a human shape, whiter than snow and which the sun turned transparent. This apparition recurred twice again without manifesting itself and always suspended in the air, over the wood at the bottom of the “Cabezo.” When questioned by her mother, “As I did not know how to explain clearly and to free myself from questions, I replied that it looked like someone wrapped in a very white sheet.” 1st 1916 Apparition of the Angel After quickly praying the rosary Lucia dos Santos with cousins Francisco & Jacinta Marto started to play a game. “We were feeding our flocks in a property belonging to my parents called “Chousa Velha,” which lies at the bottom of a hill called “Cabezo,” on the east side. It was there that the Angel appeared to us for the 1st time in the form of a youth, as white as snow, shining more brightly then the sun and as transparent as crystal. We began to see this light coming towards us and thus we gradually distinguished the features. We were taken by surprise and being half bewildered we did not say a word. On reaching us he said, “Don’t be afraid. I am the Angel of Peace. Pray with me!” And kneeling down, he bowed his forehead to the ground and made us repeat these words three times: My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee! I beg pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You.” “Pray thus.

Osman Washington, D.C. 2015 A Manual of Prayers for the Use of the Catholic Laity: A Neglected Catechetical Text of the Third Plenary Council of Baltimore John H. Osman, Ph.D. Director: Joseph M. White, Ph.D. At the 1884 Third Plenary Council of Baltimore, the US Catholic bishops commissioned a national prayer book titled the Manual of Prayers for the Use of the Catholic Laity and the widely-known Baltimore Catechism. This study examines the Manual’s genesis, contents, and publication history to understand its contribution to the Church’s teaching efforts. To account for the Manual’s contents, the study describes prayer book genres developed in the British Isles that shaped similar publications for use by American Catholics. The study considers the critiques of bishops and others concerning US-published prayer books, and episcopal decrees to address their weak theological content. To improve understanding of the Church’s liturgy, the bishops commissioned a prayer book for the laity containing selections from Roman liturgical books. The study quantifies the text’s sources from liturgical and devotional books. The book’s compiler, Rev. Clarence Woodman, C.S.P., adopted the English manual prayer book genre while most of the book’s content derived from the Roman Missal, Breviary, and Ritual, albeit augmented with highly regarded English and US prayers and instructions.

The intellectual tra- dition and moral teachings of the Catholic Church would infuse the life of the College, illuminating all learning as well as the community within which learning takes place. Just as the Faith would lie at the heart of Thomas Aquinas College, so too would a beautiful chapel stand at the head of its campus. From the time the College relocated in 1978 to its site near Santa Paula, plans were in place to build a glorious house of worship worthy of the building’s sacred purpose. Those plans were long deferred, however, due to financial limitations and the urgent need to establish basic campus essentials such as dining facilities, residence halls, and classrooms.

Who knows Mary? Her Place in Tradition, Devotion and Church Teaching By Glenn Morrison This article is peer reviewed. This article seeks to present a narrative of the development of theology and devotion to Mary, from Old Testament motifs to Church teaching authority (Magisterium) directives today. The Christian person of faith can be quite unfamiliar with Mariology, the theological study of Mary. Yet, by taking a step back to the story of salvation history in the bible, and then journeying through the centuries to appreciate her theological significance animated through devotional practices, there exists a possible discovery to arrive at a more informed position of the Magisterium’s call for formation and catechesis concerning veneration of Mary through pious practices. In this way, the Christian faithful are able to be more sensitive to the danger of Mariolatry (idolatry of Mary), more attentive to her subordinate role in relation to Christ, and therefore more aware of her humanity as a woman and mother, blessed and full of grace (Lk 1:28, 42) who gives her ‘yes’ (Lk 1:38) for us.
