  • NFL Gameday Week 22
NFL GameDay Week 22 PREGAME – 1ST QUARTER SUPER BOWL 48 WAS THE MOST-WATCHED TELEVISION EVENT OF ALL TIME. IT FEATURED THE 2 BEST TEAMS AND THE LOUDEST SUPER BOWL CROWD EVER. THE SEAHAWKS HOPED TO TURN THE FREE KICK INTO A TOUCHDOWN. INSTEAD THEY HAD TO SETTLE FOR A FIELD GOAL WHEN PERCY HARVIN COULDN’T QUITE STAY IN BOUNDS. AFTER THE SAFETY, PEYTON MANNING WENT TO A SILENT COUNT FOR THE REST OF THE GAME IN ORDER TO DEAL WITH THE CROWN NOISE. BUT THERE WAS NO SILENCING SEATTLE’S NUMBER ONE DEFENSE (PAUSE) AND THE “L.O.B.,” THEIR “LEGION OF BOOM” SECONDARY. AHEAD 5 TO NOTHING, RUSSELL WILSON LED A 13 PLAY DRIVE. WILSON CONVERTED THREE FIRST DOWNS BUT ONCE AGAIN THE SEAHAWKS COULDN’T SCORE A TOUCHDOWN. DESPITE BEING DOMINATED, THE HIGHEST SCORING TEAM IN NFL HISTORY TRAILED BY ONLY 8. IN THE FIRST QUARTER, THE BRONCOS MANAGED JUST 10 PASSING YARDS. (PAUSE) DENVER DIDN’T GET A SINGLE FIRST DOWN AND TURNED THE BALL OVER. 2ND QUARTER ON THIRD DOWN, IT LOOKED AS IF THE BRONCOS WOULD HOLD THE SEAHAWKS TO A THIRD FIELD GOAL ATTEMPT. SHARKS ARE ATTRACTED TO BLOOD IN THE WATER. IT DOESN’T TAKE MUCH TO START A FEEDING FRENZY. THE SEAHAWKS’ ABILITY TO PRESSURE MANNING WITH THEIR FRONT FOUR ALLOWED THE REST OF THE DEFENSE TO HIT WHATEVER CAME ITS WAY. IT TOOK THE BRONCOS 14 PLAYS AND OVER EIGHT MINUTES TO TRAVEL A MERE 49 YARDS. IT TOOK ONE PLAY TO UNDO IT ALL. Page 1 of 2 RIGHT TACKLE ORLANDO FRANKLIN WAS DRIVEN BACK BY DEFENSIVE END CLIFF AVRIL, WHO HIT MANNING’S ARM AS HE THREW.

  • Josh Mcdaniels Fiasco, Anthem Protests Are Examples Why the NFL Misses Pat Bowlen Right Now by Paul Klee Colorado Springs Gazette Feb
Josh McDaniels fiasco, anthem protests are examples why the NFL misses Pat Bowlen right now By Paul Klee Colorado Springs Gazette Feb. 11, 2018 Robert Kraft is the real villain in the Josh McDaniels-Colts fiasco. With great power comes great responsibility, and no owner uses his for self-serving interests more frequently than the Patriots’. Some of the NFL’s most prominent issues — national anthem protests, distrust between players and owners, the fallout from continued and necessary CTE studies, all that — are a direct result of the league’s knee-jerk reaction to almost anything that threatens to tarnish the shield. I call it the CYA plan. Instead of working together to advance the greater good with a sensible solution, the men in charge seek to cover their own backside. The anthem protests are the perfect example. The NBA quickly and successfully identified a solution in the form of a blanket decree that all teams must stand for the anthem. And when’s the last time you read a report on anthem issues in the NBA? There haven’t been any. There’s been zero blowback from a league roster that’s 70 percent black. The NBA’s all good. This isn’t hard. Meantime, the wishy-washy NFL tried to appease this group ... and that group ... and that other group ... and the end result has been distrust from players and alienating a sizable chunk of its fandom. Nobody follows the CYA plan — ignoring what’s best for the league in order to help itself — better than Kraft. That brings us to McDaniels, who reneged on a promise to join the Colts as coach.

Coach Mike Holmgren January 12, 2007 (On the status of the team…) “I think we are as prepared as we could be. We have some things we are going to do in Chicago tomorrow, but the physical part of the practice is over. I think the attitude is good, we’re prepared to play a really fine football team, we know that, but we will give it a go, we’re ready.” (On the status of Darrell Jackson and DJ Hackett…) “Those will be Sunday decisions. They did not practice as you know, and they are going to have to show me on Sunday that they can do something. But I am hopeful that I will have one or maybe both of them on Sunday.” (On how this team is different than the one that played the Bears earlier in the season…) “Well, some guys are going to be playing that didn’t play that first game. Some guys are going to be playing at different positions. From a practical standpoint, that is real. I think in the playoffs, when you are thinking about the finality of playoff football, I think probably both teams in their minds, may be a little different than a regular season game, but I am glad we have a couple guys that can play that didn’t play in the first game.” (On how the special teams practice went this week…) “I think it went fine. That is a situation where we, I referenced it earlier in the week, where you are having to sign guys to come in and play, and you are having to move guys up because of different situations, we’ve lost a couple key guys on special teams, but we’re counting on the new guys to come in, fill in and do their jobs.

  • The Following Players Comprise the College Football Great Teams 2 Card Set
COLLEGE FOOTBALL GREAT TEAMS OF THE PAST 2 SET ROSTER The following players comprise the College Football Great Teams 2 Card Set. The regular starters at each position are listed first and should be used most frequently. Realistic use of the players below will generate statistical results remarkably similar to those from real life. IMPORTANT: When a Red "K" appears in the R-column as the result on any kind of running play from scrimmage or on any return, roll the dice again, refer to the K-column, and use the number there for the result. When a player has a "K" in his R-column, he can never be used for kicking or punting. If the symbol "F-K" or "F-P" appears on a players card, it means that you use the K or P column when he recovers a fumble. Players in bold are starters. If there is a difference between the player's card and the roster sheet, always use the card information. The number in ()s after the player name is the number of cards that the player has in this set. PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME TEACHER ACTIVITY GUIDE 2019-2020 EDITIOn SEATTLE SEAHAWKS Team History When the Seattle Seahawks took the field for the first time in the 1976 season, it marked the culmination of a quest for a National Football League franchise that had its roots in the Pacific Northwest metropolis as early as 1957. That is when discussion first began about the possibilities of constructing a domed stadium that would assure a major league sports franchise for the city. On June 4, 1974, the NFL awarded its 28th franchise to Seattle to play in the 64,984-seat Kingdome. A civic suggestion campaign netted 20,365 entries and 1,741 different names, but “Seahawks” was selected and announced on June 17, 1975. Just a little more than two months later, after a 27-day sale, the season ticket campaign was shut off with 59,000 tickets sold. On January 3, 1976, Jack Patera, who had been a Minnesota assistant coach, was named the team’s first head coach. The Seahawks finished 2-12 in 1976, when they played in the NFC, and 5-9 in 1977, when they moved into the AFC. The Seahawks had winning 9-7 records in both 1978 and 1979 and Patera was named NFL Coach of the Year the second year. The strike-shortened 1982 season proved to be a transitional year for all of pro football, but no club fit the transitional description better than the Seahawks. Patera was removed after six-plus years as head coach. Mike McCormack finished the season as interim head coach and then was replaced in 1983 by Chuck Knox, who guided the Seahawks to an 83-67-0 record in nine seasons up through the 1991 campaign.

TO ALL FFL OWNERS: The 6th annual Fantasy Football League Draft will be held on Saturday, August 12. The NFC will draft at 7:00 and the AFC will draft at 8:30. If you don't know what conference you are in then look at the standings from last year. It will be held at the my house in Loves Park, 650 Sydney Avenue. If you can not attend, please contact me as soon as possible so that other arrangements can be made. We have made a number of rule changes this year so be sure to read through the rules that are contained here. The highlights are a reduction in rosters to 14 players per team, an increase in the entry fee to $25, only 4 teams making the playoffs from each conference, and expansion. We are adding 4 new teams to the league, two in each conference. The expansion teams throw a couple of new wrinkles into the league. First, we will have to realign the divisions in each conference; we are going to 3 divisions of 4 teams each. Also, there will be an additional expansion draft after all teams have protected their players. More later. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at (319) 425-5421. Aaron FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE TEAMS: Each team consists of 14 players. The players have one of four positions: quarterback, running back, receiver, and kicker. Each team will also have an injured reserve list that they may place a player on if the player is put on the injured reserve list by his NFL team.

LOUIS -- In 2006-07, the Missouri Valley Conference celebrates a century of excellence as the nation’s second-old- est NCAA Division I conference begins its second centennial as a leader in college athletics. As a part of the Centennial Celebration, The Valley is naming all-centennial teams for each of the Valley’s sponsored sports. Team composition for football has been determined by a centennial committee and members of the Football Writer’s Association of America. Included in the list are former NFL greats, Heisman Trophy finalists, and 14 members of the College Football Hall of Fame. A total of 80 former Valley greats (68 players and 12 coaches) on the all-time list made significant contributions to the game of football, either while in the Missouri Valley Conference or in their post-collegiate careers. In the league’s first 99 seasons, inclusive of all MVC-sponsored sports, 32 members combined for 27 national champi- onships, while 55 Valley student-athletes captured NCAA individual titles. In addition, Valley student-athletes and coaches earned 48 National Player or Coach of the Year honors in their respective sports. And the league had a myriad of student- athletes who collected All-America honors and earned national academic distinction in The Valley’s first century. FOOTBALL (sponsored 1907 to 1985): Twenty-nine different programs sponsored football in the Missouri Valley Conference in its 78 years as a conference sport.
