Since the 2009-10 season, the Capitals' 22.6 cumulative power play percentage (515 goals on 2,281 opportunities) ranks first, 2.1 percentage points higher than the Pittsburgh Penguins, who rank second. Ovechkin's 232 career power play goals rank first among active players, 66 more goals than Patrick Marleau in 574 fewer games, who ranks second among active players. With 613 career goals, which ranks 17th all-time, Ovechkin sits 13 goals shy of passing and (625) for 15th place on the all-time goals list. In 2017-18 he led the NHL in goals for the seventh time, finishing with 49, and he’s tied with Bobby Hull for the most times a single player has led the NHL in goals in a season. Ovechkin, the NHL’s active leader in goals as well as the Capitals franchise leader, is the only player in NHL history to win a , an Art Ross Trophy, a Hart Memorial Trophy, a Ted Lindsay Award, a Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy and a Conn Smythe Trophy. Last season Ovechkin became the 20th player in history - and fourth fastest - to reach 600 goals. Wayne Gretzky holds the NHL's all-time record for goals scored (894) and has played 478 more games than Ovechkin. Should Ovechkin play in 477 more games and maintain his 0.61 goals per game rate, Ovechkin is on a 903-goal pace.

Swede Nicky - Nicklas Backstrom, currently the franchise leader in assists, sits two assists shy of 600 career assists. Backstrom would become the first player from the 2006 NHL Draft class to reach the 600 assist mark, and he currently has 127 more assists than , who has the second-most assists from the 2006 NHL Draft class. Backstrom could become the 87th player in NHL history to reach the 600 assist mark and, according to NHL Stats, the 27th player in NHL history to reach the mark in fewer than 850 games. Additionally, Backstrom will become the ninth Swedish-born player and the second-fastest Swede to reach the mark (Peter Forsberg reached 600 assists in 670 games). Since his first NHL season in 2007-08, Backstrom ranks second in assists, only trailing Henrik Sedin (600). Backstrom leads the Caps with eight assists this season, which is tied for sixth in the NHL, and six of them have been primary assists.

Carlson has been on the ice for just five goals against at five-on-five and a team- leading 10 goals for. The Capitals are 3-0-2 this season when Carlson records a point, and Carlson is tied with Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov with four multi-point games this season. Since the start of the 2017-18 season, Carlson's 78 points (19g, 59a) leads all defensemen. Prior to the game against the Panthers, Eller's career high for assists in a game were two, which he had done 15 times in his career and four times with the Capitals. Last season, Eller set career highs in goals (18) and points (38). Since joining Washington in the 2016-17 season, Eller's 67 points (31g, 36a) rank seventh on the Capitals.

Canuck Killers - T.J. Oshie has earned 21 points (7g, 14a) in 27 career games against the Canucks. In his last 58 games, including the regular season and playoffs, Kuznetsov has recorded 78 points (29g, 49a). Over a full 82-game regular season, that equates to 110 points. During that span, Kuznetsov has recorded 22 multi-point efforts, including four four-point games. Kuznetsov has 277 points (84g, 193a) in 347 career games, and his 0.80 points per game ranks fifth among all players selected in the 2010 NHL Draft. Effective Ice Time - Jakub Vrana and John Carlson each lead the team in on-ice goal differential at five-on-five (Vrana: 8 goals for, 3 against; Carlson: 10 goals for, 5 against). Additionally, Michal Kempny and Nic Dowd have only been on the ice for one goal against at five-on-five, which leads the team.

Laying it on the Line - This season, Brooks Orpik ranks first on the Capitals in hits (24) and fifth in blocked shots (8). Since Orpik entered the NHL in the 2002-03 season, Orpik ranks first in hits (2,841) and third in blocked shots (1,722) among NHL defensemen through games played Oct. 20.

Young V - Jakub Vrana recorded a goal and an assist against the Florida Panthers on Friday. That marked the first multi-point game for Vrana this season and his fifth multi-point game of his career. Last season, Vrana recorded 27 points (13g, 14a) in 73 games and became the first Capitals rookie to record double digit goals since Alex Ovechkin in 2005-06 (52 goals).
