Chief Technology Officer

COMPANY PROFILE Cytrellis Biosystems is a clinical stage medical device company that is developing a new category of aesthetic devices. At the foundation of the company is a revolutionary skin removal technology that removes skin without invasive surgery or scarring. This platform technology is a game changer in the aesthetics space and addresses a very large unmet need in the areas of anti-aging, skin rejuvenation and body shaping. Cytrellis’ products will allow dermatology and plastic surgery physicians to improve sagging skin associated with aging on the face and on other areas of the body, and rejuvenate skin architecture in a way that’s never been done prior clinically. It is a most promising technology in the enormous global aesthetics market.

Cytrellis has a broad IP portfolio around the technology and has demonstrated proof-of concept in clinical studies. The company has raised a Series A financing led by ARCH Venture Partners. Merz Pharma has also made a strategic investment in the company. Additional private investment has come from a group of 25 leading aesthetic physicians.

POSITION The CTO will report to Karen Cronholm, President & COO. This role will be located in the company’s Boston, MA office.

The priority responsibilities for Cytrellis’ CTO are:  Oversee all innovation and development efforts including the evolution of the company’s breakthrough aesthetic skin technology, refinement and further development of Cytrellis’ core platform technology, and the development of commercial products from early stage product concepts through market launch  Develop and execute an R&D plan in support of Cytrellis’ strategy. Understands the business and has the ability make strategic recommendations of R&D efforts in context of the goals of the business  Provide direct supervision of all R&D staff (including both the internal staff in Research, Product Development, , Program/Project , and Manufacturing) and outsourced work with consultants, advisors, and vendors  Partner with cross functional teams in marketing & clinical/regulatory to develop overall R&D strategy and plans including key deliverables, corporate goals & objectives, timelines, budget projections, and key decision points  Full P&L responsibilities  Define the R&D and drive recruitment of new R&D and Manufacturing staff, define most effective manner to build team for faced paced growth and long term success of the company  Define Cytrellis’ outsourcing strategy. Provide oversight of vendor selection, consultants, and advisors

 Ensures R&D activities will maintain Cytrellis’ technology leadership position and ultimate profitability  Define and drive Cytrellis’ IP strategy  Ensure product development activities exceed customer requirements  Member of Cytrellis’ Leadership Team  Effectively communicate the development strategy to company stakeholders including potential partners and investors  Help build and drive a positive, passion-to-win culture

PERSON The ideal CTO candidate for Cytrellis will have a successful track record of managing and leading innovative product development efforts from early concept phase through market launch and be capable of applying them in a rapid growth environment.

Specific criteria for the CTO are:  15 + years of experience in leading medical device research & product development efforts ( more recent experience in a small/start-up company point-of-view is highly desirable )  Ability to manage diverse and simultaneous projects of various complexity.  “Out of the box thinker” who is willing to take on innovative product risk while balancing the product roadmap to meet timelines.  Ability to solve complex engineering related challenges. AKA – “A Critical Thinker”  Exceptional track record of leading multidisciplinary and technical teams.  Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant science / technical discipline (e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, etc.)  Experience in Class II medical devices is strongly preferred  Strong sense of urgency and a desire to roll up his/her sleeves to do the work
