  • Mario Giammetti Nell’Economia Di Una Band Come I Genesis, Piena Di Virtuosi E Grossi Personaggi, La Figura Di Mike Rutherford È Spesso Un Po’ Nell’Ombra

2 don’t understand why so many people are angry with the recent iTunes promotion of U2’s new album. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not saying this because I am a fan of the band, or because I think it is a remarkable record. It’s not, and I’m not. The band have made much better records in the past, and they have made considerably worse ones. That isn’t the issue. There have been times in my life when I have been quite impressed with the band’s output, although I would never have called myself a true blue fan. But that isn’t the issue either. The issue is why are so many people incensed by the fact that iTunes paid the band an undisclosed sum (said to be in the multiple millions) to send a copy of the record to everybody who had an iTunes account on the day in question? Those beneficiaries included Dear Friends, me, by the way – twice. Welcome to another issue of Gonzo Weekly The album can be removed from your playlists magazine. • Roachford Biog Dec 2019 204.69 Kb
Roachford biography - December 2019 Roachford, whose most famous song Cuddly Toy has been a mainstay of radio airplay for over three decades now, is back and about to release what is assuredly the best album of his career in Twice in a Lifetime. “I think that, with this album, I finally get to showcase just who I am - an artist, a songwriter, a pianist” he says. “I never wanted to be a fleeting popstar chasing momentary fame; I’ve always been in this for the music and for the long haul – and I’m still here. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a better place than I am right now.” Since Cuddly Toy reached number four in the charts back in 1988 - when, at its peak, it was selling 33,000 copies a day - Andrew Roachford has carved out a career for himself as one of the most compelling, and consistent, rock and soul artists the UK has produced. He has released 10 studio albums, several greatest hits collections, has been approached to write for various other artists including Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson and Joss Stone, and toured with contemporaries including Terence Trent D’Arby and The Christians. For the past nine years, he has been part of Mike + the Mechanics, recording with Mike Rutherford’s post-Genesis band, playing live with them across the world. His enduring career perhaps shouldn’t be surprising, because in so many ways Roachford was born to do this. Raised in south-east London, he comes from a musical family, his father a drummer, his uncle a saxophonist.

  • Alte Hits Mit Neuen Sängern Mike & the Mechanics Besuchen Mal Wieder Hannover
Kommen im Mai mit all ihren Hits nach Hannover: Mike & The Mechanics. Alte Hits mit neuen Sängern Mike & The Mechanics besuchen mal wieder Hannover 03. Neben „The Living Years“ sind das noch einige andere, die die Radioprogramme früherer Zeiten und noch heute mitprägten: „Silent Running“ etwa oder „All I Need Is A Miracle“, „Over My Shoulder“ oder „Another Cup Of Coffee“.

  • Mike & the Mechanics – Let Me Fly (Vinyl)
2017 nun verkündet Mike Rutherford auf der Innenhülle von „Let Me Fly“: „This Album returns to the early Mechanics Sound …“.

  • Andrew ROACHFORD the Beautiful Moment from the Moment That
Andrew ROACHFORD The Beautiful Moment From the moment that Andrew Roachford found himself sitting at a piano aged four, music has been his way of making sense of the world. Growing-up in London around a vibrant melting pot culture, he was like a sponge absorbing diverse musical influences from reggae and punk, to rock, Jazz and soul music. “ I started listening to the likes of Stevie Wonder, Al Green and Jimi Hendrix from a very early age and felt like I was tapping into an ancestry of music. I felt a connection to these artists as people and the way they sing about love is etched into me”. Andrew’s trademark has become his rare ability to put into words, feelings you didn’t even know you had, “It’s one of the reasons why I make music; to bring out those things that people feel, but haven’t always got a voice for. I like to bring the inner person to the forefront”. And over the year's, anthems like ‘Only To Be With You’, ‘The Way I feel’ and ‘Complicated’ to name but a few have done just that. “I’m always pushing myself as an artist. When it comes to songwriting, I naturally gravitate to digging deep. That’s how it works for me”. With Platinum and Gold selling albums, a career that spans two decades, ever since busting onto the scene with his first hit song “Cuddly Toy” and the last five years seeing him writing and singing on everything from top-five selling international dance tracks to co-writing and touring with Mike and the Mechanics, Andrew is undeniably a prolific and unique talent.
