One day in May, 2012, I mentioned to my wife (conductor Verena Mösenbichler-Bryant) that it might be fun to take the soaring, heroic tutti music from that earlier work and turn it into a short fanfare “someday.” She goaded me into doing it immediately, and so in a panicked three-day composing frenzy, I created this new work, which was premiered by Johann Mösenbichler with the Polizeiorchester Bayern just three short weeks later, followed immediately by my wife conducting it with the World Youth Wind Orchestra Project at the Mid Europe festival in July, 2012. This has to be a record time for conception-to-premiere for a large ensemble work… All licensing (marching, recording, etc.) requests, orders, and general questions: [email protected] | www.stevenbryant.com TWITTER: @SBryantComposer | FACEBOOK: facebook.com/SBryantComposer Copyright © Steven Bryant / Gorilla Salad Productions (ASCAP) PERUSAL SCORE - NOT FOR PERFORMANCE USE Score (transposed) Steven Bryant Ecstatic Fanfare 2012 Ecstatic q = 128 œ ˙ bœ œ.

The first-of-a-kind, interactive encyclopedic e-book uses text, video, mp3 and pdf files to bring the history and development of the wind-band to life. The following pages contain a sample of Chapter 5: Denmark Wind Music More chapter samples of In Search of the Wind-Band: An International Expedition can be found at http://engagedscholarship.csuohio.edu/clmusic_bks/3/ Copyrighted Material CHAPTER 5: Denmark Wind Music Denmark is a Kingdom with a constitutional monarchy that is currently governed by Queen Margrethe II. It is ranked the happiest and least corrupt country in the world. The country has close historical and cultural ties with Sweden, Norway and Finland and the national language is Danish. Early music in Denmark transformed similarly to that of its neighboring Scandinavian countries. Military bands were responsible for providing communication in a number of ways. Commencing with London bells in the background, the ensuing journey takes our hero by boat train to Paris (passing the Moulin Rouge en route), Russia (where he is chased by Cossacks), Vienna at night, Spain (where he is a spectator at a bull fght) before a fnal circumnavigation by sea (where we hear hints of foreign lands) brings him back to London with rich memories of his trip. The Journal of Phileas Fogg was commissioned by Dr Nicholas Childs for the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain. First performed by the NCBBGB, conducted by Dr Robert Childs, July 2012 About the Composer Born in Scotland, Peter Graham read music at Edinburgh and London Universities (Goldsmiths’ College).
