Any sick person who is present and those feeling the burden of their years may receive the anointing of the sick. If you know someone who is sick, perhaps you would like to attend this Mass and pray for them or perhaps you might offer them a lift and bring them along. Whether it be physical or mental illness, drug or alcohol abuse and addiction of any kind, you are invited to come and to pray together with Fr Paddy for yourself or for your loved ones who may be suffering in any way. The names of the people who are sick and wish to be prayed for can be placed next weekend in the petition box which will be located at the Baptismal Font in Glenamaddy Church. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served after Mass in the Convent house.

SAFEGUARDING TRAINING on Sat 20th Oct 10am-4pm in Ard Ri Hotel, which is organised by the Archdiocese for all Local Safeguard- ing Reps, Sacristans, Choir Leaders, those involved in Children’s Liturgies and others involved in ministry with children in our parish.

CHRISTMAS SHOE BOX APPEAL following the growing success of this initiative we will be collecting shoeboxes again this year at Mass on Saturday 17th November. Leaflets available at the back of the church.

OLD GRAVEYARD Urgent meeting in Glenamaddy Community Centre on Thursday next at 8pm. We urge all people who have a family plot there to please attend. Attention is needed to deal with falling trees and up keep of the graveyard.

UNWANTED GIFTS FOR THE SIMON COMMUNITY … Last year we organised a ’Family Giving Tree’ where people placed their unwanted gifts. If you are doing an ’Autumn cleanout’ and have unwanted gifts please hold onto them until December and place them under the tree in church. Everything collected will go to Galway Simon Community.

GLEN CELTIC Well done to our Senior team who defeated B 0-1. Hard luck to our U12 Boys who lost out in their Division Cup fi- nal. Futsal for boys and girls will start Wed next for National school kids - 1st & 2nd class 6 to 7pm; 3rd & 4th class 7 to 8pm; 5th & 6th class 8 to 9pm. Secondary school kids will start on Thur next - 1st, 2nd & 3rd year 6 to 7:30pm; 4th year and up 7:30 to 9pm. All will take place in Glenamaddy Community School. Friday 12th is Glen Celtic fund raising quiz night in Jim Pete’s.. All support appreciated.

COMMUNITY ART PROJECT Glenamaddy Tidy Towns have been awarded an Arts Bursary from Galway County Council towards a Commu- nity Art Project. Visual artist Rosemarie Langtry will be working with groups in the town, including primary school and transition year stu- dents in creating mosaic murals reflecting “Our Sense of Place” in Oct & Nov and any individuals or groups in the community are very wel- come to get involved.
