Any sick person who is present and those feeling the burden of their years may receive the anointing of the sick. If you know someone who is sick, perhaps you would like to attend this Mass and pray for them or perhaps you might offer them a lift and bring them along. Whether it be physical or mental illness, drug or alcohol abuse and addiction of any kind, you are invited to come and to pray together with Fr Paddy for yourself or for your loved ones who may be suffering in any way. The names of the people who are sick and wish to be prayed for can be placed next weekend in the petition box which will be located at the Baptismal Font in Glenamaddy Church. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served after Mass in the Convent house. PARISH OFFICE open on Mondays and Fridays 10am-12pm. SAFEGUARDING TRAINING on Sat 20th Oct 10am-4pm in Ard Ri Hotel, Tuam which is organised by the Archdiocese for all Local Safeguard- ing Reps, Sacristans, Choir Leaders, those involved in Children’s Liturgies and others involved in ministry with children in our parish. CHRISTMAS SHOE BOX APPEAL following the growing success of this initiative we will be collecting shoeboxes again this year at Mass on Saturday 17th November. Leaflets available at the back of the church. OLD GRAVEYARD Urgent meeting in Glenamaddy Community Centre on Thursday next at 8pm. We urge all people who have a family plot there to please attend. Attention is needed to deal with falling trees and up keep of the graveyard. UNWANTED GIFTS FOR THE GALWAY SIMON COMMUNITY … Last year we organised a ’Family Giving Tree’ where people placed their unwanted gifts. If you are doing an ’Autumn cleanout’ and have unwanted gifts please hold onto them until December and place them under the tree in church. Everything collected will go to Galway Simon Community. MISSION MONTH “Children’s Day of Prayer for Missions” next Friday CHILDREN’S LITURGY every Saturday evening during 7pm Mass for Junior, Senior, First & Second class children. THE ROSARY FOR FAITH AND LIFE will be recited tomorrow (Sunday) at 7pm in this church, in unison with Rosary on the Coast. Galway, Ireland Tel: + 353 91 485790, Email:[email protected], Web: www.Geo-Mara.com Marine Archaeological Assessment Non-Technical Summary: DeepSea Fibre Networks Ltd. have commissioned Geomara Ltd. to undertake a maritime archaeological assessment in connection with a proposed new sub-sea telecoms cable system linking Galway, on the west coast of Ireland to Bilbao on the north coast of Spain. This report addresses the section within the Irish jurisdiction. The assessment comprises an introduction to the study area and the identification of cultural heritage sites, features and deposits located along the proposed cable route corridor. In order to provide a comprehensive assessment, an extensive desk-based study of the route corridor was undertaken. The potential impact of the proposed scheme on the receiving environment is addressed and mitigation measures to ameliorate these impacts are presented. Seven sites were identified during the Galway City Council Storm damage mitigation report at or around Ballyloughane beach including a possible old quay and some ships timbers. All the sites are on the shore side of the planned Horizontal Directional Drilling. One potential known wreck site (W09510) including some additional ones nearby are located in close proximity to the cable corridor (Figures 9 – 12).
