Sv ir id o v received 24.II.2000 Summary: 630 species of the Noctuidae are listed for the modern Volgo-Ural fauna. 2 species [Mesapamea hedeni Graeser and Amphidrina amurensis Staudinger ) are noted from Europe for the first time and one more— Nycteola siculana Fuchs —from Russia. 3 species ( Catocala optata Godart , Helicoverpa obsoleta Fabricius , Pseudohadena minuta Pungeler ) are deleted from the list. Supposedly they were either erroneously determinated or incorrect noted from the region under consideration since Eversmann 's work. 289 species are recorded from the re gion in addition to Eversmann 's list. This paper is the fifth in a series of publications1 dealing with the composition of the pres ent-day fauna of noctuid-moths in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This re gion comprises the administrative divisions of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Uljanovsk, Orenburg, Uralsk and Atyraus (= Gurjev) Districts, together with Tataria and Bash kiria. As was accepted in the first part of this series, only material reliably labelled, and cover ing the last 20 years was used for this study. The main collections are those of the authors: V. Cochylini del 2 Agapeta, Eupoecilia, Aethes (part.) Agapeta hamana (L.) 4268 15-25 mm. Imago flyver sidst på dagen og kommer fint til lys fra maj til august (september). Ikke alle eksem- plarer er så stærkt tegnet som ovenstående. Agapeta hamana (L.) Larven lever overvintrende i i rødderne af forskellige tidsler (Carduus, Cirsium mv.). Udbredt i Europa op til Mellemsverige og Finland. Almindelig. Agapeta largana (Rebel) 4270 16-23 mm. Imago er på vingerne i solens sidste stråler fra sidst i juni gennem juli. Lokalt ikke sjælden på enge. Præimaginale stadier er ukendte. Kendt fra Grækenland, Rumænien, Ungarn, det vestlige Østrig og jeg har selv fundet den flere steder i det sydøstlige Frankrig. Agapeta zoegana (L.) 4271 15-24 mm. Imago flyver i de sidste lyse timer og kommer fint til lys i juli-august. Agapeta zoegana (L.) Larven lever overvintrende i rødderne af Blåhat (Knautia) og Knopurt (Centaurea). Den forpupper sig i rødderne. Agapeta zoegana (L.) Ind i mellem dukker eksemplarer op som er formørket i den yderste tredjedel. Disse eksemparer er gerne mindre end normalt. Agapeta zoegana (L.) I Danmark er der ikke mange findesteder i Jylland og arten mangler helt vest for israndslinjen. I det øvrige land er den ikke sjælden, men sjældent talrig. Nordgrænsen går gennem det sydligste Norge, mellemste Sverige og sydlige Finland. Arten når til Ural og Lilleasien. Eugnosta lathoniana (Hb.) 4279 21-27 mm. Imago flyver sidst på dagen fra midt i maj til sidst i juni. Præimaginale stadier er ukendte. Udbredt i det meste af Sydeuropa, mod nord til Tyskland, men herfra kendes ingen konkrete fund. -

The English version of Part One was issued in 1987 (Amerind Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi-edition supervised by the U.S.D.A. , Washington, D.C.), and it covered the non-ditrysian families (with only a superficial treatment of the Nepticulidae), and eight families among the lower Ditrysia, namely the Psychidae and dll members of the Zygaenoidea, Cossoidea, Sesioidea and Tortricoidea. Part Two deals with a larger number of families (29 if one accepts the classification that I proposed in 1991: see Entomol. Seand. 22:90-91). Bugs and Beasties of the Western Rhodopes (a photoguide to some lesser-known species) by Chris Gibson and Judith Poyser [email protected] Yagodina At Honeyguide, we aim to help you experience the full range of wildlife in the places we visit. Generally we start with birds, flowers and butterflies, but we don’t ignore 'other invertebrates'. In the western Rhodopes they are just so abundant and diverse that they are one of the abiding features of the area. While simply experiencing this diversity is sufficient for some, as naturalists many of us want to know more, and in particular to be able to give names to what we see. Therein lies the problem: especially in eastern Europe, there are few books covering the invertebrates in any comprehensive way. Hence this photoguide – while in no way can this be considered an ‘eastern Chinery’, it at least provides a taster of the rich invertebrate fauna you may encounter, based on a couple of Honeyguide holidays we have led in the western Rhodopes during June. We stayed most of the time in a tight area around Yagodina, and almost anything we saw could reasonably be expected to be seen almost anywhere around there in the right habitat. Most of the photos were taken in 2014, with a few additional ones from 2012. While these creatures have found their way into the lists of the holiday reports, relatively few have been accompanied by photos. We have attempted to name the species depicted, using the available books and the vast resources of the internet, but in many cases it has not been possible to be definitive and the identifications should be treated as a ‘best fit’. -

E-mail: [email protected] Introduction Lepidoptera is one of the most widespread and widely recognizable insect orders in the world. It can show many variations of the basic body structure that have evolved to gain advantages in lifestyle and distribution. We can find more than 180,000 species of Lepidoptera in the world, which belong to 126 families and 46 superfamilies (Mallet, 2007). There are 482 species in Europe, 451 of them being found in the 27 member states. Almost a third of these species (142 species) are endemic to Europe (Van Swaay et al., 2008). Today more than 2500 species of Lepidoptera are known in Lithuania. Every year new and rare species for Lithuania fauna are discovered (Ivinskis & Rimšaitė, 2018). This article presents new data on 38 rare for Lithuania moth and butterflies species. They were registered in 4 administrative districts of Lithuania. One species - Chariaspilates formosaria (Eversmann, 1837) is included in the Red Data Book of Lithuania (Rašomavičius, 2007). Sanchiz (*) RESUMEN Durante el periodo 1978-1994 se han descrito cerca de 2.000 especies animales nue- vas para la ciencia en territorio ibérico-balear. Se presenta como apéndice un listado completo de las especies (1978-1993), ordenadas taxonómicamente, así como de sus referencias bibliográficas. Como tendencias generales en este proceso de inventario de la biodiversidad se aprecia un incremento moderado y sostenido en el número de taxones descritos, junto a una cada vez mayor contribución de los autores españoles. Es cada vez mayor el número de especies publicadas en revistas que aparecen en el Science Citation Index, así como el uso del idioma inglés. La mayoría de los phyla, clases u órdenes mues- tran gran variación en la cantidad de especies descritas cada año, dado el pequeño núme- ro absoluto de publicaciones. Los insectos son claramente el colectivo más estudiado, pero se aprecia una disminución en su importancia relativa, asociada al incremento de estudios en grupos poco conocidos como los nematodos. The classification and nomenclature follow the Danish checklist (Karsholt & Stadel Nielsen, 2013). Seven species are reported as new to the Danish fauna: 1) Micrurapteryx kollariella (Zeller, 1839) and 2) Caloptilia honoratella (Rebel, 1914) (Gracillariidae); 3) Dichomeris latipennella (Rebel, 1937) and 4) Scrobipalpa bryophiloides Povolný, 1966 (Gelechiidae); 5) Aethes bilbaensis (Rössler, 1877) (Tortricidae); 6) Hodebertia testalis (Fabricius, 1794) and 7) Cynaeda pustulalis (Hübner, 1823) (Crambidae). All were collected in one or two specimens with automatic light traps, apart from S. bryophiloides which was taken at light and H. testalis which was collected on sugar ropes. Stenoptilia veronicae Karvonen, 1932 replaces Stenoptilia eborinodactyla Zagulajev, 1986 in the Danish list. The introduced species Prays oleae (Bernard, 1788) is removed from the list as the only specimen recorded from Denmark belongs to Prays citri (Millière, 1873). The total number of Danish Gracillariidae is now 91, Gelechiidae 182, Tortricidae 395, and Crambidae 128. This results in a total of 1629 species of Microlepidoptera (families Micropterigidae–Zygaenidae + Pyralidae–Crambidae) found in Denmark. The total number of Macrolepidoptera species recorded from Denmark is 978, bringing the number of Danish Lepidoptera to a total of 2607 species. This is the 40th article in the series of yearly lists of Microlepidoptera from Denmark published in Entomologiske Meddelelser. -

Auf der Freifläche und an den Waldrändern haben sich inzwischen die verschiedensten Pflanzen angesiedelt. Auf den Freiflächen dominiert in den trockeneren Abschnitten die Drahtschmiele (Avenellaßexuosa) und bei Bodenfeuchte Landschilf (Phalaris arundinacea). Bauminseln kommen hinzu, bestehend aus den Pioniergehölzen Weiden Salix( copraea, S. .cinerea), Espen (Populus tremula) und Birken (Betula pendula), gefolgt von Eichen (Quercus robur), Buchen (Fagus silvatica), Linden (TiHa cordata), Fichten (Picea excelsa) und natürlich Kiefern (Pinus silvatica). Alle diese Bäume läßt man kaum höher wachsen als 5 Meter, um Beschädigungen an den verlegten Rohren durch das Wurzel werk zu vermeiden. Neben den Bäumen finden sich niedrige Gehölze wie Weißdorn (Crataegus sp.), Wild-Rosen (Rosa sp.), Faulbaum (Frangula alnus) und Holunder (Sambucus nigra). -

Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe.
