Congratulations on becoming a Family! Take these first steps to ensure that your family gets the most out of Scouting:

1 Complete a youth application 2 Know your Cubmaster and the best way to contact him or her 3 Ask your Cubmaster about a Cub uniform and handbook 4 Ask how you can get involved at your meetings. Scouting is a family activity; we want you to grow with your son! 5 Attend the Cub-O-Ree, your first outdoor adventure opportunitiy! You can go as a family, or with your Pack.

Welcome to Scouting | Be Prepared for something different. How Cub Scouting Works

The mission of the is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Oath and Law.

Your boy is a member of a DEN, consisting of 5-8 boys, similar in age, who meet twice a month with a den leader, typically a parent. All of the dens make up the PACK. The PACK meets once a month with the Cubmaster, with all the other DENS in attendance. At the PACK meeting you will have fun activities and have the opportunity to engage with other DENS. Your PACK is part of the BUCKEYE COUNCIL, BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, which serves The Sign 9,000 youth in Northeast Ohio and West Virginia.

5 Get Involved and Get Trained

Training

Scouting is a volunteer led program and the Council has the training and tools to help you along the way. Training will give you fresh ideas, a place to talk to other Scout parents, and the knowledge and information you need to carry out the Scouting program. Below are the required trainings needed to be a Cub Leader. All of them are available online at myscouting.org or face to face at designated trainings throughout the year.

*How to complete online training? Visit www.MyScouting.org. Click “create an account”. You will be prompted to insert a BSA membership ID number. This number can only be issued after you have complet- ed Youth Protection training and after you have submitted an adult application. Click “e-learning” under Training on the left hand side of the browser. All trainings may be found under the “Cub Scout e-learning tab”. After turning in your completed Adult Application (with Youth Protection Certificate attached) you will be issued an ID Number. Please enter this ID Number in your account information on MyScouting.org. This will link your online trainings to the Council database.
