  • Breaking It All Down - the ‘Zine, He Didn’T Provide One Cover, He Provided Two
Vol: 1. No: 2. Winter 2014 About the Front Cover When I asked Brian, who I’ve been friends with since High School, if he’d like to do a cover for the first issue of Breaking It All Down - The ‘Zine, he didn’t provide one cover, he provided two. After we decided which one to use for the first cover, I asked if I could use the second for the ‘zine’s second issue, and he said sure. About the Artist Brian A. Caslis is an artist living in Oregon. You can find more of his work at http://greencoat7.tumblr.com/ Breaking It All Down – The ‘Zine has reached its second issue! Hurray! In the time between issues, I’ve been swamped with schoolwork (boo), but I have been able to go to OryCon and say hello to Ben Yalow, Susanne Thompkins, and Jerry Kaufmann (yay). However, alas, due to all the excellent panels I went to, I didn’t get to spend as much time with them as I would like (boo). Though, I was able to meet some new people as well (yay). I also had a continuation of my Introduction to Anime series in Chris Garcia’s The Drink Tank (issue 361), which can be read at eFanzines.com. While the first part covered series from after 2001, that article covered some older series. This issue has the conclusion of the introductory sequence, with an article covering SF and fantasy manga. I do want to take a moment to give an open call for people who are interested in doing cover art for the fanzine.

THREE HEARTS AND THREE LIONS PDF, EPUB, EBOOK Poul Anderson | 232 pages | 18 Oct 2018 | Open Road Media | 9781504054966 | English | New York, United States Three Hearts and Three Lions PDF Book The logic of fairy tales mostly obtains, but they are not completely removed from the requirements of mortals. Spells are not toxin-free and can have an ill effect on the environment when the appropriate deities and if certain practices are not considered, disaster can follow. It has more fully realized characters and a more complete story. There was a bunch of stuff I liked about this book. In they republished The Broken Sword originally published in , and followed it in with Three Hearts And Three Lions originally published in As he journeys through a realm filled with wonders in search of the key to his past, Holger will call upon the scientific knowledge of his home dimension, the destinies of both worlds hanging in the balance. You see, in what tended to be a vaguely naturalistic setting, players in the game would set forth into the wilds to kill monsters, win treasure, and evade diabolical traps. Poul Anderson described the novel as "one of the most popular things I've ever done, going through many book editions in several languages. At no point did I think that he wasn't going to succeed. Such an enduring piece of fiction has to get 5 stars. However, Holger avoids physically consummating this love — though Alianora wants him to — as he intends to return to the 20th century world he came from.

  • The Revised Elric of R'lyeh
The Revised Elric of R’lyeh A setting for the Call of Cthulhu and Stormbringer RPGs by Ralph Lovegrove This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial- ShareAlike 4.0 International License. 1 Introduction Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Ylrhc R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn! This monograph distils my notes on Elric of R’lyeh: a mashup of Chaosium’s Stormbringer and Call of Cthulhu RPGs set in an alternate 1920s Earth governed by Moorcock’s cosmology of Law and Chaos. I used the setting for two games: one set in the independent Young Kingdoms of America, and the other on the Dreaming Isle of Great Britain. In this world the Lords of Law and Chaos walk among humans, Melnibonean blood mingles with human as the ancient race struggles to hold on to its identity, and Elementals and Beasts hold court. The churches of Law and Chaos are the major political force in the human realm — but they are a facade concealing a reality nearly incomprehensible to humans. Themes for Earth alone was lawful and constituted of ordered matter, drifting in the sea of Chaos-stuff as it had done for aeons. - from Earl Aubec 2 We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. - from The Call of Cthulhu From Lovecraft and Call of Cthulhu we get components of mystery, secrecy, and the Mythos that represents an uncaring universe of vast cosmic forces where man is irrelevant. From Moorcock and Stormbringer we get an Empire in decay, humans as pawns of the Gods, and personal relationships with higher forces through declarations of allegiance to Law, Chaos and the Balance.

JERRY CORNELIUS: HIS LIVES AND HIS TIMES FREE DOWNLOAD Michael Moorcock | 416 pages | 29 May 2014 | Orion Publishing Co | 9781473200722 | English | London, United Kingdom The Lives and Times of Jerry Cornelius: Stories of the Comic Apocalypse Graeme Talboys rated it it was amazing May 17, I wouldn't necessarily recommend Jerry Cornelius: His Lives and His Times earlier stories either, but Moorcock does certainly succeed in creating a distinctively dreamlike, acid-laced atmosphere, so that's something. Jerry Cornelius is one of the most remarkable and distinctive characters in Moorcock's work, and his time-travelling, trippy and bizarre adventures are must-reads. Hayden Brown added it Apr 19, More filters. Corruption, violence and greed are rife in a war-torn Europe, but Jerry Cornelius: His Lives and His Times is against history; he is outside of history. My first impression is of written smoke, or fragments thrown on a page. Vivienne marked it as to-read Feb 14, The Eternal Champion series continues with "The Dancers at the End of Time", a monumental science-fiction epic blending humor and romance in a story that spans all of space and time. Moorcock, indeed, makes much use of the initials "JC", and not entirely coincidentally these are also the initials of Jesus Christ, the subject of his Nebula award-winning novella Behold the Man, which tells the story of Karl Glogauer, a time-traveller who takes on the role of Christ. This is an interesting collection that fills in some holes nicely and provides answers of a sort to some hanging threads, but I can't recommend it as a good starting point to Moorcock's multiverse, but it's a good addition for longtime fans.

  • An Interview with Jason Durall
MASTER OF THE SLAVES OF FATE …AN INTERVIEW WITH JASON DURALL MASTER OF THE SLAVES OF FATE… AN INTERVIEW WITH JASON DURALL Note: This interview was conducted in late 2009, and is ©2011 Marcus D. Bone and Jason Durall. The closure of the Elric! line in the late 1990s could have been the death nail of the Stormbringer legacy at Chaosium. Yet with the boom that followed the release of Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition, the early 2000s saw the return of not only Dragon Lords of Melnibone – the Open Game Licence incarnation of Stormbringer – but also a 5th edition of the BRP rule set. Unfortunately this revival lasted only long enough for just one new OGL supplement to be published – Slaves of Fate. Written by long time Chaosium stalwart Jason Durall, this adventure sadly illustrates what could have been… In late 2009, Stormbringer! had the opportunity to talk with Jason, about writing for Chaosium and his experiences in the ill-fated return to the Young Kingdoms. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us, Jason. It’s really great to talk with the people who brought the Stormbringer line to life! Before we get into the detail, however, I wanted to take a moment to mention that I recently discovered you actually make a living writing and designing games! I have to ask, how did you find yourself in such a wonderful career? I'm an old-school gamer who began playing the old re-colored original edition of D&D back in the late 70s. My mom bought it out of the Sears catalog as a Christmas present, and I'm sure she wonders if she made a terrible mistake there.

Supplement IV GODS, DEMI-GODS & HEROES by Robert Kuntz & James Ward 2006 © 1976 TSR GAMES 7th Printing, November, 1979 Printed in U.S.A. INQUIRIES REGARDING THESE RULES SHOULD BE ACCOMPANIED BY A STAMPED ENVELOPE AND SENT TO TSR RULES. POB 756, LAKE GENEVA, WI 53147. Foreword Well, here it is: the last D&D supplement. It is with a strange mixture of sadness and relief that I tell you this. My first assignment, fresh out of college, was BLACK- MOOR. I came to regard it with a mixture of love and loathing, that has gradually seen the love win out. The loathing grew out of the educational trip that it was for me. They don't teach you in college what to do when the press breaks down, or your manuscript gets mysteriously misplaced; you just have to wing it. Well, the same applies to D&D'ers everywhere: we've told you just about everything we can. From now on, when the circumstances aren't covered somewhere in the books, wing it as best you can. As we've said time and time again, the 'rules' were never meant to be more than guidelines; not even true 'rules.' What the authors have done in this volume is to attempt to set down guidelines that will enable you to incorporate a number of various mythologies into your game/campaign. They make no claims that any of this material presented is exhaustive, or even infallible. Mythology is defined as 'a body of myths, especially: the myths dealing with the gods, demi-gods and heroes of a particular people, usually involving the supernatural.' Myth is defined as a legend.
