3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time 4 January 26, 2020 Weekly Devotional I Know Who You Are, and Saw What You Did

“For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name by having served and continuing to serve the holy ones. We earnestly desire each of you to demonstrate the same eagerness for the fulfillment of hope until the end, so that you may not become sluggish, but imitators of those who, through faith and patience, are inheriting the promises.”

A recent professional football running back received a significant award for his record-breaking season. The recognition came with its share of acclaim, an extra headline or two, and a bonus his agent had written into his recent contract. It was the product of hard work and years of dedication. It was also the product of a veteran team and an outstanding offensive line. To the player’s credit, he acknowledged their work on his behalf. “Couldn’t have done it without them,” he told a reporter, shortly after he presented them with new sound systems for each of their homes in gratitude.

My name is Chris Castel. I graduated from St. George Catholic School in 2012 and attended Catholic High School following. I currently attend Belmont University in Nashville, TN. I am actively involved with University Catholic at Belmont, and recently finished serving as president of this community. University Catholic has been essential to my spiritual and personal development in college, and I now have the opportunity with this community to go on a mission trip to Callao, Peru. This will be in conjunction with the Community of the Beatitudes, who assist the poor and youth of the area by helping with housing and accompanying these people. I am reaching out to my home parish for assistance in this amazing mission, as I need help with the means to get to Peru. I would like to invite you to prayerfully consider to support me in this mission, whether it be through a financial gift or through prayer. I need to raise $1500 by February 25th, and every donation and prayer helps me.

If you would like to support me financially, you can either donate online at https:// universitycatholic.org/spring-break-mission-trips under the “additional payments” section and include “Chris Castel Peru” as the PayPal note, or you may mail a check made out to the Diocese of Nashville to me at 1900 Belmont Blvd Tall Hall 212, Nashville, TN 37212.
