DISTRICT PROFILE

The San Antonio District plans, designs, builds, operates and maintains the state transportation system in 12 counties. In addition to maintaining assets in the Alamo City, the district focuses on mobility projects to address congestion through the vital corridors intersecting in the district.

MAINTENANCE: Our maintenance budget is about $200 million annually. Our major U.S. Representatives: Rep. Joaquin Castro expenditures include pavement preservation, traffic management and roadside maintenance. Rep. Rep. SAFETY: Our safety program focuses on reducing traffic fatalities through education, Rep. engineering and enforcement. This involves safety campaigns, roadway upgrades including Rep. Vicente Gonzalez Rep. pedestrian facilities and clearer pavement marking, grant funding to police agencies like our Selective Traffic Enforcement Program and the Highway Emergency Response Operator (HERO) program.
