To conceal any faults and to obtain a better finish on the hull, use the dark sapele 0.6x4mm battens 20 to apply the second and final plating of the 6hull, leaving a gap for the stem 21 and for the keel 22 (see Step 8) To plate the upper part of the hull, use the 0.6x4mm light basswood battens 23. Apply a fine layer of contact glue with a brush onto the two pieces to be joined. 7 Sanding down and second plating on the hull (2)

Once the hull has been plated, apply the second plating on the stern hull, using contact glue and starting at the top with the 0.6x4mm light batten 7basswood 23, continuing with the dark 0.6x4mm sapele battens 20. Fill any small gaps in the stern with wooden wedges made from the spare pieces of dark sapele batten. Trim any pieces of batten that protrude to make them flush with the hull.
