US OPEN FINALISTS, TOP FOUR AMERICANS FEATURED IN ROUND OF 16

 Day 4: Last year’s US Open finalists and the top four Americans are featured on Thursday at the Citi Open. In the second match on Stadium Court 2014 US Open runner-up looks to reach his 11th ATP World Tour quarter-final of the year when he faces Argentinian / No. 16 seed. . Following the No. 2 American looks for his first win in his fourth meeting with last year’s US Open champion Marin Cilic. The third match features No. 4 seed vs No. 15 in a first-time meeting. In the last match of the evening on Stadium Court, top American looks to even his head-to-head at 2-2 when he faces last year’s runner-up . On Grandstand American faces of , All together there are 11 matches (8 singles and 3 doubles).

 Top Seed Falls: With falling to in his opening match on Wednesday evening it marked the first time a top seed has lost in an opening round match in Washington since in 1993 (l. to ). It was also Murray’s first opening round loss on hard courts (non round robin) since 2012 Indian Wells (l. to Garcia-Lopez).

 US Open Finalists Eye QF: US Open champion Marin Cilic is looking to reach his 5th ATP World Tour quarter-final of the year, while finalist Kei Nishikori is looking to reach his 11th. Cilic is playing in his first tournament since reaching the quarter-finals at Wimbledon for the second straight year (l. to eventual champ Djokovic again). Cilic is also the first reigning US Open champion to play in Washington since in 2000. He is playing here for the third time and first time since reaching the semi-finals in 2010 (l. to eventual champion Nalbandian) and has a 4-2 tournament record. Nishikori is also returning to action for the first time since Wimbledon where he withdrew from the 2R due to a calf injury. Nishikori is 5-4 in Washington, reaching the quarter-finals last year.
