Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 10/5/15 http://twitter.com/nfl345 THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL PREVIEW: INDIANAPOLIS COLTS AT HOUSTON TEXANS Week 5 begins on Thursday night (CBS/NFLN, 8:25 PM ET) with an AFC South matchup between the INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (2-2) and the HOUSTON TEXANS (1-3) at NRG Stadium in Houston. Indianapolis aims for its third consecutive victory of the season after a 16-13 overtime victory against Jacksonville. Kicker ADAM VINATIERI converted all three field goal attempts, including the 27-yard game-winner in overtime, and one PAT for a total of 10 points against the Jaguars. Vinatieri, who scored 1,158 points in 10 seasons with New England (1996- 2005), has now scored 1,004 points for Indianapolis and is the first player in NFL history to score at least 1,000 points with two different teams. He also surpassed MIKE VANDERJAGT (995 points) as the Colts’ all-time scoring leader. “Adam is money, he is clutch,” says Indianapolis head coach CHUCK PAGANO about Vinatieri’s game-winning field goal. “He is a first-ballot Hall of Famer and I think everyone here agrees.” The game also marked the Colts’ 15th consecutive division victory, which ties the 1972-73 Miami Dolphins for the longest streak since 1970. Indianapolis’ active win streak against AFC South opponents began on December 30, 2012, when the Colts earned a 28-16 win against Houston. The teams with the most consecutive divisional wins since 1970: TEAM SEASONS AGAINST DIVISION CONSECUTIVE DIVISIONAL WINS Indianapolis Colts 2012-15 AFC South 15* Miami Dolphins 1972-73 AFC East 15 Dallas Cowboys 1993-94 NFC East 14 *Active “We don’t have much time and there is no 24-hour rule in effect on this one,” says Pagano. “We have to get to work. We have another tough division game on the road on Thursday night down in Houston.” Houston enters Week 5 following a 48-21 loss at Atlanta. Texans wide receiver DE ANDRE HOPKINS had nine receptions for 157 yards against the Falcons. It was Hopkins’ second consecutive game with at least 100 receiving yards, marking the first time in his career he has done so in back-to- back games. “We need to get some things corrected,” says Houston defensive end J.J. WATT, who recorded three tackles for loss and a sack against Atlanta. “We have a short week this week with a game on Thursday night. Maybe that is the thing we need, to get back out there and to get this taste out of our mouths. We have a tough division opponent at home, so we need to go out there and play some good football.” Houston running back ARIAN FOSTER, who made his season debut in Week 4, looks to continue his career success against Indianapolis. Since entering the league in 2009, Foster leads the AFC with 53 rushing touchdowns and an average of 86.6 rushing yards per game, including 960 yards (120 per game) and eight touchdowns in eight career matchups against the Colts. • Vance Joseph to Return As Broncos' Head Coach in 2018
Vance Joseph to return as Broncos’ head coach in 2018 By Nicki Jhabvala Denver Post January 2, 2018 Despite a 5-11 season, eight defeats by double digits and a playoffless finish, the Broncos will retain coach Vance Joseph for next season, giving him a chance “to fix it,” just as he had hoped. Joseph met with John Elway early Monday to learn of the general manager’s decision and to mull changes to the coaching staff, which included the departure of six assistants. “Vance and I had a great talk this morning about our plan to attack this offseason and get better as a team,” Elway tweeted Monday morning. “We believe in Vance as our head coach. Together, we’ll put in the work to improve in all areas and win in 2018. “To all our fans: THANK YOU for your tremendous support and sticking with us through a tough year. This wasn’t the season anyone expected, but we’ll learn from it and be better because of it. Our 2018 season starts today.” In keeping Joseph for 2018, Elway spared the Broncos of a fourth head coaching change in five years and provided a significant cost savings. Had Joseph left, the Broncos could have had to pay the remaining salaries of most of two coaching staffs. Joseph was hired last January after the resignation of Gary Kubiak and was immediately labeled “a leader of men” because of his ability to relate to players on both sides of the ball, and to work well with fellow coaches. The Broncos had tried to bring in Joseph as defensive coordinator in 2015, but the Cincinnati Bengals refused to release him from his contract.

  • Super Wild Card Weekend Kicks Off Saturday
FOR USE AS DESIRED 1/5/21 SUPER WILD CARD WEEKEND KICKS OFF SATURDAY The NFL’s playoff table is ready. Get ready for a six-course meal. The addition of a third Wild Card team in each conference this season and the subsequent expansion of the playoffs has resulted in a Super Wild Card Weekend of NFL action. For the first time ever, there will be three games on Saturday, January 9, and three games on Sunday, January 10, to be played at 1:05 p.m., 4:40 p.m., and 8:15 p.m. ET on each day. The postseason kicks off Saturday on the heels of the highest-scoring regular season in NFL history, packed with more points (12,692) and touchdowns (1,473) than any of the league’s previous 100 years. All told, 179 of 256 games – 70 percent – were within one score (eight points) in the fourth quarter, more games than all but one season in league annals (184 in 2016). And no lead was safe, as winning teams combined to erase deficits of 10-or-more points in 43 games, tying a single-season league record. Steady, dangerous teams led by consistent veterans, young and on-the-rise clubs guided by sensational newcomers, they all have seats at the table. • 2018 Nfl Season Begins on Kickoff Weekend
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9/4/18 http://twitter.com/nfl345 2018 NFL SEASON BEGINS ON KICKOFF WEEKEND The NFL returns this week and it’s time to get back to football. Kickoff Weekend signals the start of a 256-game journey, one that promises hope for each of the league’s 32 teams as they set their eyes on Super Bowl LIII, which will be played on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA. One thing is certain: the 2018 season will be filled with memorable moments, as young players emerge onto the scene, familiar faces continue their climb up the record books and teams vie to make their mark in the postseason. The 99th season of NFL play kicks off on Thursday night (NBC, 8:20 PM ET) as the Super Bowl champion PHILADELPHIA EAGLES host the ATLANTA FALCONS at Lincoln Financial Field in a battle of the NFC’s past two Super Bowl representatives. The Eagles, who finished last in the NFC East with a 7-9 record in 2016, became the second team since 2003 to go from “worst- to-first” en route to a Super Bowl victory, joining the 2009 New Orleans Saints. Every team enters the 2018 season with hope and a trip to Atlanta for Super Bowl LIII in mind. Below are a few reasons why. THE FIELD IS OPEN: Five of the eight divisions in 2017 were won by a team that finished in third or fourth place in the division the previous season – Jacksonville (AFC South), the Los Angeles Rams (NFC West), Minnesota (NFC North), New Orleans (NFC South) and Philadelphia (NFC East).

GARY KUBIAK HEAD COACH – 22nd NFL Season (12th with Broncos) Gary Kubiak, a 23-year coaching veteran and three-time Super Bowl champion, enters his third decade with the Denver Broncos after being named the 15th head coach in club history on Jan. 19, 2015. A backup quarterback for nine seasons (1983-91) with the Broncos and an offensive coordinator for 11 years (1995- 2005) with the club, Kubiak returns to Denver after spending eight years (2006-13) as head coach of the Houston Texans and one season (2014) as offensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens. During 21 seasons working in the NFL, Kubiak has coached 30 players to a total of 57 Pro Bowl selections. He has appeared in eight conference championship games and six Super Bowls as a player or coach and was part of three World Championship staffs (S.F., 1994; Den., 1997-98) as a quarterbacks coach or offensive coordinator. In his most recent position as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator in 2014, he oversaw one of the NFL’s most improved and explosive units to help the Ravens advance to the AFC Divisional Playoffs. His offense posted the third-largest overall improvement (+57.5 ypg) in the NFL from the previous season and posted nearly 50 percent more big plays (74 plays of 20+yards) from the year before he arrived. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco recorded career highs in passing yards (3,986) and touchdown passes (27) under Kubiak’s guidance while running back Justin Forsett ranked fifth in the league in rushing (1,266 yds.) to earn his first career Pro Bowl selection.
