  • NFL Draft 2018 Scouting Report: WR Courtland Sutton, SMU
2018 NFL DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT MARCH 10, 2018 NFL Draft 2018 Scouting Report: WR Courtland Sutton, SMU *WR grades can and will change as more information comes in from Pro Day workouts, Wonderlic test results leaked, etc. We will update ratings as new info becomes available. *WR-B stands for "Big-WR," a classification we use to separate the more physical, downfield/over-the- top, heavy-red-zone-threat-type WRs. Our WR-S/"Small-WRs" are profiled by our computer more as slot and/or possession-type WRs who are less typically physical and rely more on speed/agility to operate underneath the defense and/or use big speed to get open deep...they are not used as weapons in the red zone as much. The first offensive skill position player that I’ve truly fallen in love with for the 2018 NFL Draft…Courtland Sutton, WR SMU. It took a little bit for me to find true love, but here I am. I’ve been on and off, mostly on this bandwagon for over a year…little did I know how close to I was to gold. In a preview study in the summer of 2017, I thought Sutton was pretty talented (like most people). I thought he had flashes of ‘A’ and then some ‘meh’ flashes of ‘B’…good-not-great, but perhaps great. In that 2017 preview, I punted…I couldn’t get a good feel from two games of tape, but I saw the potential/hope people had with him. When I previewed more tape ahead of the 2018 NFL Combine, I graded him an ‘A’ but with reservations…hedging…leaving myself an out.

  • Butch Davis Profile, November 2006 Butch Davis, Former Head Coach At
Butch Davis Profile, November 2006 Butch Davis, former head coach at the University of Miami and the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, will be the 33rd head coach in University of North Carolina history and the ninth since the ACC was formed in 1953. Davis is currently in his second season as an analyst on the NFL Network. He was head coach for six seasons at the University of Miami (1995-2000) and led the Hurricanes to a 51-20 record, three Big East Conference championships and four postseason bowl wins in as many appearances. Davis has coached in 11 postseason bowl games as an assistant or head coach, including two apiece in the Fiesta, Orange and Sugar Bowls. In 1995, Davis took over a Miami program that was faced with NCAA sanctions that restricted the number of scholarships in his first three seasons. However, his Hurricane teams finished ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 on four occasions, including No. 2 in the nation in 2000 when the Canes went 11-1 and beat Florida, 37- 20, in the Sugar Bowl. Miami was 8-3 in 1995 (the school declined to play in a bowl game), 9-3 in 1996 (beat Virginia in the Carquest Bowl), 5-6 in 1997, 9-3 in 1998 (beat NC State in Micron PC Bowl), 9-4 in 1999 (beat Georgia Tech in Gator Bowl) and 11-1 in 2000. In 1999, Miami was invited to play in the Kickoff Classic and defeated Ohio State, 23-12. The 2000 team was second in the nation in scoring, fifth in total offense, fifth in scoring defense and eighth in pass defense.

  • Texans' Inaugural Roster
PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME TEACHER ACTIVITY GUIDE 2019-2020 EDITIOn HOUSTOn TEXAnS Team History The Houston Texans’ National Football League debut occurred in the 2002 AFC-NFC Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. The game brought to fruition a dream of the Houston community. The drive to bring an NFL team back to the football-rich city was spearheaded by owner Bob McNair. His quest began in 1997. After being turned away by the National Hockey League, McNair turned his focus to bringing an expansion football team back to Houston. In just a few months, McNair’s efforts began paying off. NFL Commission- er Paul Tagliabue praised his plans at the owners’ meeting in October of that year. In June 1998, the NFL Stadium Committee made a visit to Houston to see the plans for a new retractable roof stadium. Nine months later, the league voted 29-2 to give Los Angeles six months to work out a feasible ownership plan and stadi- um situation. If the city could not do so, then the NFL would recommend Houston as the 32nd franchise. McNair, after stepping up his efforts to land the expansion team, became encouraged in the summer of 1999 when it ap- peared that Los Angeles’ bid was failing. In September, McNair was instructed to prepare for the upcoming owners’ meeting in Atlanta. Then, at that meeting held on October 6, 1999, the NFL owners voted 29-0 to award the expansion franchise to McNair for a record $700 million. On January 19, 2000, the team began to form its front office when Charley Casserly was hired as Executive Vice President/ General Manager.

Six of the 25-year-old standout’s nine receptions resulted in a gain of more than 10 yards or a touchdown. Sunday’s game in Reliant Stadium marked the second consecutive week that Johnson has led the AFC in receptions and receiving yards. The 6-3, 220-pounder’s final catch was a three-yard touchdown reception in the back left corner of the end zone for a 17-6 lead with 9:54 remaining to earn the club its first win of the season. Johnson set up the score with a game-long 30-yard reception, fighting through a double team on third-down to move Houston to the Miami seven-yard line.
