COACHING STAFF HEAD COACH ADAM HOWARD

OFFENSE Adam Howard was named NDC’s first head coach in January 2009. Howard came to College Road from across PRESS BOX town, where he served as assistant head coach/ defensive coordinator for Baldwin-Wallace. He was the Yellow Jackets’ defensive coordinator from 2003 Bill Rychel Ron Cosby -08 and the defensive backs coach in 2002. At B Offensive Coordinator Wide Receivers -W, the former Wilmington College player (1993- Assistant Head Coach 97) developed one of the finest defensive corps in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Howard was named the OAC’s Assistant Coach of the Year in 2003, and his Yellow Jacket SIDELINE SIDELINE defenses consistently performed at a high level. B-W ranked in the OAC’s top-four in fewest points allowed in five of his six seasons as defensive coordinator. In 2004, the Yellow Jackets ranked Mickey Mental Scott Niedzwiecki Tony Neymeier Carter Welo second in the league and 10th in the nation, GA-Tight Ends Quarterbacks GA-Offensive Line Running Backs yielding just 13.5 points per game. Howard’s B- Football Operations W defenses allowed fewer than 20.0 points per game in five of his six seasons in Berea.

DEFENSE The Falcons’ first gridiron leader has a football background that is all-Ohio. He originally hails from New Carlisle, Ohio, and was a standout player at Springfield Northwestern High School. PRESS BOX Prior to heading to B-W, Howard was the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Wilmington College from 1999-2002. Before that, he served as the defensive ends coach at Matt Kostelnick Ty Stillman E.J. Whitlow the University of Dayton in 1998-1999. Linebackers Defensive Backs GA-Defensive Line Recruiting Coordinator Strength & Conditioning Howard is a Wilmington College graduate (1997). While at Wilmington, he played four years of football and earned four varsity letters as a defensive back. He was a two-time All- SIDELINE American Mideast Conference selection and earned Football Gazette All-North Region honors as a senior. Howard served as a team captain as a senior at WC.

Darren Cereshenko Gus Patouhas Dan Wondolowski Howard and his wife, Jeannette, have one child -- GA-Defensive Backs Defensive Line Defensive Backs Levi, who was born in 2009. They reside in JV Head Coach Strongsville, Ohio.

SPECIAL TEAMS “TRESS” IMPRESSED When Adam Howard came to NDC, he arrived with an impressive, all-Ohio coaching background with ties to Baldwin-Wallace College. And that has caught the eye of an Ohio coaching SIDELINE legend with similar ties:

“Adam Howard is a coach who is dedicated to his players and to making his [college] better on and Tom Sutton F O O T B A L L off the field,” said Ohio State Head Coach Jim Kickers/Punters Tressel. “His enthusiasm and energy make him a great fit for Notre Dame as they begin a football program there.”

Tressel lettered at B-W (playing for his father, Students Assistants—Mike Fleeman, Tim Rosenbaum, Neil Piskac Lee Tressel) as a quarterback from 1971-74, Volunteer Asst—Kris Pappas earning all-conference honors his senior season. He graduated cum laude with a degree in education in 1975.

The Falcons were downed by Gannon, 17-11, and by Mercyhurst, 21-6. The Falcons (6-3) will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 3, when they return to Erie to take on two more Pennsylvania programs. Notre Dame will face Penn State-Behrend at 9:30 a.m. and Washington & Jefferson at 2:30 p.m.

Volleyball: The Falcons lost to Baldwin-Wallace on Thursday by a score of 3-0. Notre Dame has struggled this season, losing 18 of its first 19 games. The Falcons will host Rio Grande in a pair of matches at Murphy Gymnasium on Saturday, Oct. 2. The first match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
