Further, there are online facilities for the CDE students to pay their fees, get their hall tickets, submit their examination applications, etc.

Also I whole heartedly appreciate the Director and entire team for bringing more relevant and beneficial courses to the distant learners from the academic year 2019-2020, which are more demandable in the job market.

Director‟s Message

As it was rightly said by legendary Tamil Poet Thiruvalluvar, learning is the true imperishable riches; all other things are not riches. Education is a valuable instrument which can eradicate poverty and eliminate many of the problems faced by humanity today. The world is reeling under poverty not because there is no enough resources. It is because the resources, particularly knowledge did not reach the needy. Education through distance mode made it possible to reach the unreachable. The influence of the information and communication technologies (ICTs) in open and distance learning (ODL) in a developing country like ours is tremendous. I am privileged to be the Director in-charge of the Centre for Distance Education (CDE), an integral part of the Bharathidasan University, which functions with the motto “Quality Education for All”. We at CDE work for the noble cause of providing educational opportunities to the masses. The Centre offers an extensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Arts, Science, Humanities, Management, Technology, Visual Media and Education (B.Ed.). We recently introduced several Science based programmes at undergraduate level itself. Bharathidasan University was the first among Indian Universities to introduce the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme through distance mode. Equally famous is our Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme which created many executives all over the INDIA. Our distance education courses has high credibility in India and abroad. Several of our students are well placed in reputed concerns in abroad. At this juncture I congratulate all the aspirants who have already succeeded in transforming their lives through distance learning and invite more aspirants who have the quest for knowledge and success to build up a promising future. While extending my warm welcome to all the students I wish to assure you that learning at CDE will be a rewarding experience to all the students.
