2. MOTION FOR ELECTION TO THE NATIONAL OIL SEEDS AND VEGETABLE OILS DEVELOPMENT (NOVOD) BOARD

Shri Sompal (Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture) moved:

"That in pursuance of clause (e) of Sub-section (4) Section 4 of the National Oilseeds and Vegetable Oil Development Board Act, 1983 (29 of 1983) read with clause (i) of sub-rule (1) of Rule (4) of the National Oilseeds and vegetable oils Development Board Rules, 1984, this House do proceed to elect, in such manner as the Chairman may direct, one Member from among the Members of the House to be a Member of the National Oilseeds and Vegetable Oils Development Board."

The motion was adopted.

3. STATEMENT BY MINISTER

Shri L. K. Advani (Minister of Home Affairs and Department of Jammu and Kashmir Affairs) made a statement regarding incidents of killings by militants in Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh on the 3rd August, 1998.

Thereafter, Members sought clarification on the Statement.

Shri L. K. Advani replied to the clarifications.

4. GOVERNMENT MOTION

9. ANNOUNCEMENT BY CHAIR

The Deputy-Chairman made the following announcement in the House:-

Accordingly, the sittings of the Rajya Sabha fixed for Thursday, the 13th and Friday, the 14th August, 1998 have been cancelled."

10. STATEMENT BY MINISTER

Shri Ananth Kumar (Minister of Civil Aviation) made a statement regarding situation arising out of loss of revenue in Indian Airlines.

Thereafter, Members sought clarifications on the statement.

Shri Ananth Kumar replied to the clarifications.

11. VALEDICTORY REMARKS

The Deputy-Chairman, Shri and Shri Sikander Bakht, Minister of Industry and Leader of the House made valedictory remarks on the conclusion of the Session.
