THE CONNECTION

Gene Autry had Smiley Burnette as a loyal sidekick, and Johnny Cash had Johnny Western as a loyal sidekick from 1959 until 1963. Johnny Western sang the 'scratch' vocals when Cash wasn't able to get to the studio, and Cash would overdub his voice a few days later. They toured together, hung out together, and shared their secrets. During the years that Johnny Western toured and recorded with Johnny Cash, he had his own recording career ongoing, and saw a huge pop and country hit with Ballad Of Paladin. Now Bear Family presents the complete solo recordings of Johnny Western. These are some of the finest songs from the era of the TV westerns, together with cowboy swing and some songs that Cash himself made famous, like I Walk The Line and Delias's Gone. There's some incredible music in the Cash style, available complete on three CDs.
